READ ABOUT HIP HOP (information must be read to) LEER SOBRE HIP HOP (se debe leer la información) Like any style of music, hip hop has roots in other forms, and was shaped by many different artists, but there’s a case to be made that it came to life precisely on this day in 1973, at a birthday party in the recreation room of an apartment building in the est Bronx, New York City. The location of that birthplace was 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, and the man in charge of that party was the birthday girl’s brother, Clive Campbell— better known to history as DJ Kool Herc, founding father of hip hop. Hip Hop started as a form of music and then the dancing grew from the music. The dance is also so versatile that it can be enjoyed on stage for a grand performance or in a club with friends. Today, almost everyone has seen some form of hip hop dance, whether it be in real life or on television. The dance’s use of music makes it fun to watch and perform as it can captivate audiences with its mixture of sharp and fluid movements.
