The B-Boy Summit Internationally Acclaimed B-Boy/B-Girl Event
THE B-BOY SUMMIT INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED B-BOY/B-GIRL EVENT Produced by No Easy Props OVERVIEW The B-boy Summit continues to be a major trendsetter in Hip-Hop street dance, art and music culture. Established in 1994, The Summit presented innovative ideas in Hip-Hop culture, offering a conference forum complete with competitions, performances, panels, workshops, and a marketplace for consumer friendly products marketed toward the Hip-Hop community. Never content with success, The B-boy Summit continues its mission to bring the hottest street dance, art, and music above ground to the masses. The B-boy Summit has grown into an internationally acclaimed 3 day festival incorporating all aspects of Hip-Hop in different plateaus, including the most intense battles, rawest circles, theatre performances, a DJ/MC Talent Showcase and live aerosol art painting. The B-boy Summit was created in 1994 out of the need for a community orientated Hip-Hop event that encompassed knowledge of the history of Hip-Hop culture and the skills of B-boying and B-girling. At that point in time B-boys and B-girls didn’t have a platform in which to come together, dance and pay homage to the traditional dance of Hip-Hop. Each year the event has expanded to encompass B-boys, B-girls, MCs, Aerosol Artists, and DJs from across the globe, steadily building into what is now the foremost Hip-Hop cultural event in the world. More recently, The Summit has become one of the most important events for Lockers, Poppers, Freestyle and House Dancers to take part in during The Summit’s Funk Fest. -

July 18, 2016 – Second Session Issue July 18, 2016 – Second Session Issu July 20, 2016 – The Dance Night 2k16 Edition Dance Night 2k16 by Robbie Rolfe There could not have been a nicer evening for a very competitive dance night. Special hosts PETE “ME HOW TO DOUGIE” COLE, WILL “MACKERANER” LANE and myself, ROBBIE “ROCK AND ROLFE,” were flown in from all over the world for this spectacular event. Starting the night off were cabin 3. They stepped up on the outside stage, on the top Basketball courts, opposite Wasserman Hall with their song being Flo Rida’s “My House.” It was a brave move for them being the first ones up but they did a really good job with PIERCE MCKENZIE doing a black flip and AARON PELTS doing the worm. They also had some well thought of, homemade props as well to add to their opening routine. Cabin 4 and 5 did “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars and the, ever so popular dance move “The Dab” was featured several times during both cabins performances. Cabin 7 did a special performance which was inspired by our very own Woody! Lucky Canteen Number 81. They danced to Michael Jackson’s “Blame it on the Boogie,” and they did the dance routine that Woody teaches everyone during a game of Musical Chairs that he normally hosts during pre-camp or post- camp. Cabin’s 9 and 15 did the “Harlem Shake.” HUNTER ROBERTS was an expert at performing the dance move called “The Wobble,” CALEB SAKS and JACK SACKS picked ROBBIE YASTROW up and did a backwards flip and ZACH MEYERS did the worm very well too. -

T'B I T The longer I stay in this "business the surer I am of two things to ensure its long life and continued in- terest in it: PROPER PROGRAMMING AMD A YOUTH PROGRAM . The callers who have been active for ten or more years and are still in demand are the ones who program each of their dances so that they give something for the "hot shot" dancer; something for the "newcomer" to square dancing; and a heck of lot for the people in between who outnumber the others maybe ten to one. The dances for the in-betweens will "be a good mixture of old and traditional dances and enough of the neweir ones to keep the floor on its toes. And one thing they never are guilty of: they never deliberately try to "throw the floor". Any idiot can do that; it takes a real good caller to sense the limitations of the group and arrange or re-arrange his material accordingly. -

That’s right -- not only is dancing fun, it’s also great exercise! So stand up, do a few simple stretches, and get ready to learn some new moves! Dancing will help you strengthen your muscles, and can also build endurance -- all you have to do is have fun just a little bit longer each day! Dancing is about moving your body. Some kinds of dancing you make up as you go along. Some kinds of dance are done in a specific way, with special steps and a certain type of music. Once you learn the steps, it can be a lot of fun to do these dances alone or with a group of people. Folk Dance: Folk dances are group dances that have developed over many many years in a certain country or area. They are usually danced to special music, and everyone does the same steps at the same time. Folk dances can be done as a performance for people to watch, but they really started as a way for everyone to celebrate together at parties and events. Some examples of folk dances are: clogging, Irish dance, square dance, sword dance, and folklorico. Line Dance: Line dances are dances where everyone stands in one or more lines, and does the same steps at the same time. Sometimes all the dancers face the same direction. -
