House Resolution 1675 By: Representatives Stovall of the 74th, Jones of the 53rd, Beasley-Teague of the 65th, Gilliard of the 162nd, Scott of the 76th, and others

A RESOLUTION

1 Commending Casual Cal Dupree; and for other purposes.

2 WHEREAS, Casual Cal Dupree is the first iconic African American co-founder, 3 co-producer, and ringmaster of a soulful touring circus, the first of its kind in America; and

4 WHEREAS, he has reinvented the role of ringmaster with his gifted personality, and his 5 work has set a precedent that many others now follow; and

6 WHEREAS, for the first event of his career, Cal performed at the Georgia World Congress 7 Center following President Jimmy Carter's election victory; and

8 WHEREAS, a graduate of Morehouse College, Cal has worked as a DJ, producer, and host 9 during his distinguished career in the entertainment industry, including work on the HBO 10 special The UniverSoul Circus, a 2006 performance at the Apollo Theater, and the kickoff 11 concert for the Georgia Lottery with George Jones and the Pointer Sisters; and

12 WHEREAS, as further testament to his illustrious list of credits, he co-produced and hosted 13 The New York City Fresh Festival's 40 city tours alongside famous rappers Run-DMC, 14 Houdini, The Fat Boys, Grandmaster Flash, and Full Force; and

15 WHEREAS, Cal has long been dedicated to the Atlanta entertainment industry and serves 16 with skill, integrity, and responsibility as vice president of the National Black Radio Hall of 17 Fame, Atlanta Chapter; and

18 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this 19 extraordinary individual be appropriately recognized.

20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that 21 the members of this body commend Casual Cal Dupree for his contributions to the 22 entertainment industry and extend best wishes for continued success.

23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized 24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to 25 Casual Cal Dupree.
