Position Description Psychometricians at Professional Testing manage, or assist in the management of, a variety of credentialing programs within varying industries. Activities performed by psychometricians include facilitating job/task analyses, item development activities, assembling and equating exam forms, facilitating passing score studies, performing item analyses, working in item banks, publishing CBT forms and managing projects.

Essential Job Functions • Facilitate workshops including job/task analyses, item development meetings, form review meetings, and passing score studies • Guide and manage Professional Testing’s test development team in item banking activities • Perform item/statistical analyses utilizing both classical test theory and • Write technical examination and item analysis reports • Assemble, equate, and publish examination forms to a variety of modes including multiple computer-based testing channels and paper and pencil testing • Manage programs, projects, timelines and deliverables • Respond to client questions and concerns via email, phone, and face-to-face conversations • Perform on-going research activities associated with item types, form assembly, equating methodologies, and client- specific needs • Provide guidance to clients regarding NCCA and ANSI accreditation standards, and how to make programmatic decisions that will be in line with accreditation standards

Qualifications Preferred (years of experience, education level etc.) • Ph.D. in measurement, statistics, or related field or Master’s in related field with demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining certification programs • Experience working with credentialing programs, 5 years of experience is preferred • Knowledge of both Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory measurement models • Knowledge of item banking software systems • Knowledge of statistical software programs (e.g., SAS, SPSS, ) • Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., NCCA, ANSI, CFP) • Ability to explain complex measurement concepts using basic terminology • Ability to travel between 20-30% of the time • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously • Verifiable or demonstrated experience facilitating in-person meetings

Internship experience could be applicable. Able to take direction from senior/lead psychometricians to achieve program goals and operational tasks. Familiarity with IRT models and adaptive testing is preferred. Experience with managing large datasets. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity. Excellent organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, technical, customer service, problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills are essential. Ability to work independently to resolve client issues and collectively in a fast- paced environment to establish a positive working rapport with all stakeholders. Graduate research may be obtained concurrently with PhD research. • Experience or education must include utilizing psychometric methods, statistical procedures, and applications of classical test theory (CTT) and item response theory (IRT) in test design and analysis. • Strong background in applying CTT and IRT to large-scale testing programs; • Proven ability to analyze and solve measurement problems in testing operations, experience in designing, conducting, summarizing and presenting psychometric studies • Strong data analysis skills and scientific computing skills using SAS, R, or C++/C, work well with exam committees and interdepartmental colleagues. • Strong psychometric analysis skills using WINSTEPS or IRT PRO to conduct calibrations, equating and scaling • Strong oral and written communication skills.
