3 Dear Lakeside School families and friends,

I love Seattle, but let’s face it: We all need a little beach experience by late November! So, I hope you are dressed in your most comfortable beach attire and ready for a relaxing night with 600 of your closest Lakeside friends. When are you ever again going to be with so many people you know and love for a beach experience?! This is a wonderful night for all of us to be together, and what is most important is that you have fun, meet some new Lakeside parents and guardians, and relax. And, while relaxing with friends, you have the opportunity to support your students’ school and make it possible for the school to offer a diverse and dynamic program for our students. So, enjoy, have fun at the Lakeside Beach Ball, and do make a splash if possible. And, on behalf of all of us, my thanks to the amazing members of the PGA who worked so hard to bring us together for such a fun event. It took a lot of creativity, planning, and countless hours to organize such a night. Thanks, everyone, and have a great night!

Bernie Noe, Head of School

4 Dear Lakeside School families, friends and supporters,

Welcome to the Lakeside Beach Ball! We hope you are enjoying this evening of sun and warmth. Every year, the Lakeside community comes together at ROAR to celebrate, and we are proud to have been a part of putting together another evening of impact and community.

In building this event, we have been so overwhelmed by your support and kindness. Your assistance, energy, encouragement, humor, support and excitement have all made this evening into a joyful celebration of the most important aspects of the Lakeside community. This is what makes Lakeside the amazing learning environment that it is – not only our financial support, but also the sense of community that enables our faculty and staff to succeed, and our students to thrive. And that is why we are here.

We could not have put this evening together without immense support from the volunteers who contributed their time and talents. At the start of the project, we were told “You will be amazed – Lakeside families step up.” And wow, do they ever! We have been supported at every turn by the incredible PGA staff, Executive Board, past auction chairs, and dedicated faculty and staff. We are indebted to them all for their shared expertise and assistance.

After months of planning and preparing, we are so excited to share this evening with you. This night is about celebrating our wonderful community – we hope you have a fantastic time, give generously, and enjoy the party! Welcome to the Beach Ball!

Your 2018 ROAR Auction Co-Chairs Michelle Han, Patty Morrissey & Angela Ting

Rich, mouth-filling and beautifully textured.” - 91 Points, Wine Advocate Thank you, Carrie and John Simchuk Value: $80

In partnership with Washington wine visionary Allen Shoup, Michel has created a Columbia Valley Merlot that exemplifies the complexity and concentration of flavors for which his wines are internationally known. Pedestal is one of six distinct red wines from the Long Shadows Vintners collection. The third vintage of this limited release wine has notes of dark cherry and blackberry aromas that complement an appealing hint of toasty oak in this dense, deeply concentrated Merlot. Rich at entry, with added intensity on the mid-palate, the finish provides a lingering impression of layered black fruit. Rated 90 points by Wine Spectator, 91 points by Wine Enthusiast and 94 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Thank you, Tricia and Peter Nora Value: $50 85 751 | Two Bottle Set of 2005 Leonetti Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon The 2005 vintage in Walla Walla was very dry, which left the vines to struggle and vines love a good struggle. It was a banner vintage for the region, producing concentrated, flavorful, long-lived wines. This outstanding effort offers juicy acidity and elegant fruit, balanced by perfectly ripe, well-integrated tannins that will keep this wine fresh for years. A must for any serious collector of Cabernet. Rated a whopping 96 points by Wine Enthusiast, the 2005 Leonetti Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon wine includes 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 4% Carmenere, and 2% Malbec in the blend. The Temperance Hill Vineyard sits at the very top of the southern end of the Eola-Amity Hills in and around the caldera of an ancient volcano. At 850 feet, its high elevation and its regular exposure to the cool Pacific breezes, the vineyard produces pure and fresh wines with red raspberry, rhubarb, currant, blueberry, and bright cherry flavors. It is a better cellar candidate due to its natural balance between acidity and sweetness as well as its ripe, silky, transparent tannins. Thank you, Patty and Steve Morrissey Value: $210 754 | Three-Bottle Set of Leonetti Cellars Wine The 2016 Merlot Blend, comprised of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, is incredibly broad on the palate-a distinctive characteristic of Washington Merlot. It has an intricate nose of licorice, lavender, dried herb, cold black coffee mixed with caramel, black fruits, and elderberry, and incredible purity of fruit. This wine is massive, but plush, with a core of mouthwatering acidity and a polished finish. “The fruit seems ever so slightly dried out, with surprisingly restrained flavors and a tight core of tannin that needs time to unwind. Best after 2025.” - 92 points, Wine Enthusiast; 92 points, Wine Spectator; 94 points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Thank you, Point B, Inc. Value: $300 87 755 | Kanonkop Pinotage 2000 Pinotage is South Africa’s signature grape variety. The name Pinotage is a portmanteau of its two parents, Pinot Noir and Hermitage (as Cinsaut was then known in South Africa). The Kanonkop estate of the Stellenbosch coastal region has 55-year-old vines and uses bush vines only to obtain max extraction. The cold mild winter with warm and dry conditions during ripening period lead to only full bodied deep ruby color wine, aged 14 months in soft French oak barrels. The complex wine pairs well with pizza, meaty stews and eggplant. Scored 86 points by Wine Enthusiast. Thank you, Vanessa Maren and Dean Donovan Value: $80

757 | 2010 Montes Alpha M Chilean Red Wine Montes Alpha “M” is an extremely limited production coming from the best vines of La Finca Estate. The estate is all on a slope, climbing the side of a granite mountain topped by native oak trees, with a very steep peak. Drip irrigation, traditional-style natural control at all stages, extremely low yields, hand-pruning of vines and hand-picked grapes make Montes Alpha M the very best Chile can produce. This wine is a blended red, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, and was scored 96 points by Wine Spectator. Thank you, Lisa Graham Value: $85

88 758 | Trio of 2009 Washington Cabernet Sauvignon Enjoy two bottles of the 2009 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon rated #60 on Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2012. 759 | Three Bottles of Efeste 2006 Ceidleigh Syrah The 2006 Ceidleigh Syrah is made entirely from Red Mountain grapes and makes this new world syrah a highly concentrated, fruit forward and rich wine. Efeste’s minimalist approach to producing this wine allows the fruit from this special terroir to shine. “Smooth, round and generous, this positively glows with gorgeous plum, blackberry and floral spice aromas and flavors, echoing on the long, expressive finish. This just doesn’t quit.” - 93 points, Wine Spectator and one of Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2009. “Deep purple-colored, it displays a bouquet of cigar box, mineral, scorched earth, lavender, and blueberry. Dense and rich on the palate, this full-bodied, pure Syrah has enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. It should offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2021.” - 90 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. This is deeply saturated, lush, scented with violets, raisins and chocolate, still tight and spicy. Excellent depth and structure, with about one quarter of the oak new. It needs some time, and as it opens it shows more Rhône- like flavors of blood and shrubby herb. - 90 points,Wine Enthusiast Thank you, Lisa Graham Value: $120

89 760 | Three Bottles of 2004 Cadence Tapteil Red Mountain Red Wine The 2004 Cadence Tapteil Red Mountain Red Wine is a Bordeaux-styled blend and their interpretation of the best qualities reflected in Washington’s greatest vineyard terroir. It is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Cadence’s winemaking philosophy is based on the belief that blending creates a balanced wine of greater character than the individual components. Their wines express the power, intensity or elegance of the vineyard reflected in the characteristics of the varietals on the vineyard. “Polished, open-textured and refined, this is generous with its red currant, raspberry, black cherry and dusky spice aromas and flavors. The supple texture and graceful structure make this a winner. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.” - 93 points, Wine Spectator Thank you, Lisa Graham Value: $120
