Marco Cavalleri - www.mymovies.it Siamo in Cina al tempo della dinastia Ming e al palazzo reale l’imperatore Zheng De e la principessa sua sorella Wushuang si annoiano e desiderano vedere il mondo fuori. Wushuang cede alla tentazione e, travestita da uomo per non farsi riconoscere, scappa da palazzo. Giunge in un villaggio dove conosce Li Yilong e sua sorella Phoenix: quest’ultima si innamora della principessa, o meglio della sua versione al maschile, e la situazione si complica. Ma non basta: l’imperatore, in cerca della sorella, anch’egli sotto mentite spoglie, rintraccia il gruppetto e si innamora di Phoenix. Per mettere a posto il pasticcio non basterà forse nemmeno un intervento divino...Insolita uscita Hongkonghese sul mercato di casa nostra, "Chinese Odissey" non è purtroppo memorabile. E non solo per demeriti relativi al disastroso doppiaggio o al presumibile massacro in fase di montaggio per il pubblico occidentale. Il problema vero consiste nell'umorismo piuttosto corrivo, con qualche buon momento slapstick che non controbilancia una sceneggiatura debole. In tema di pene d'amore e travestimenti la commedia classica occidentale ha riservato - anche al cinema - ben altri risultati: e il cast ha l'aria di divertirsi un mondo, confermando l'adagio che se si diverte la troupe non si divertono gli spettatori. Prodigals in Love: Narrating Gay Identity and Collectivity on the Early Internet in China by Gang Pan A thesis submitted in conformity with the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of East Asian Studies University of Toronto © Copyright by Gang Pan 2015 Prodigals in Love: Narrating Gay Identity and Collectivity on the Early Internet in China Gang Pan Doctor of Philosophy Department of East Asian Studies University of Toronto 2015 Abstract This dissertation concerns itself with the eruption of a large number of gay narratives on the Chinese internet in its first decade. There are two central arguments. First, the composing and sharing of narratives online played the role of a social movement that led to the formation of gay identity and collectivity in a society where open challenges to the authorities were minimal. Four factors, 1) the primacy of the internet, 2) the vernacular as an avenue of creativity and interpretation, 3) the transitional experience of the generation of the internet, and 4) the evolution of gay narratives, catalyzed by the internet, enhanced, amplified, and interacted with each other in a highly complicated and accelerated dynamic, engendered a virtual gay social movement. Second, many online gay narratives fall into what I term “prodigal romance,” which depicts gay love as parent-obligated sons in love with each other, weaving in violent conflicts between desire and duty in its indigenous context. The prodigal part of this model invokes the archetype of the Chinese prodigal, who can only return home having excelled and with the triumph of his journey.

The new fees aim to shut the door on those who visit Kuwait to take advantage of low healthcare charges, according to Al-Rai daily. The new charges reach a peak in the treatment of tumors with TheraSphere, at KD 5,000 for visitors compared to KD 500 for expat residents, while the previous charge was KD 100 only. Treatment of bone cancer with isotopes will now cost KD 1,000 for visitors and KD 500 for expats, while the previous price was a mere KD 50. Charges for x-rays and laboratory tests were also increased, such as thyroid gland testing, from KD 15 to KD 40 for expats and KD 90 for visitors. Thyrogen injection charges have risen to KD 500 for residents and KD 790 for visitors. The charges for tests for esophagus and gastric reflux, stomach, liver, spleen, gall bladder and blood vessels range from KD 10 to KD 50 for expats and KD 100 for visitors.

The novels are The Abandoned Capital (Feidu lj£ A[5), White Nights (Baiye IE1 ft), The Earthen Gate (Tumen ± ("]), and Old Gao Village (Gaolaozhuang ifj & Si). After a review of Western theories of tragedy - including Unamuno, Jaspers, Krieger, Frye, and others, with special attention to Raymond Williams, I argue that tragic experience is primary, perennial, and universal, tragic vision is secondary, and tragedy, in whatever religious, philosophical, and artistic form, is a response to and product of tragic experience and tragic vision. By tragic vision I mean a view of the world, a "sense of life in men and peoples" that is tragic. This vision is not necessarily pessimistic because using our head we find despair, but using our heart we are full of hope (Unamuno). In Chinese the idea can be summed up in the Daoist epithet about Confucius—"Is that not the man who knows that striving is without hope and yet goes on?" In short, tragic vision is defiant resistance or resisting defiantly.
