From the Principal

Dear Parents and Beeliar community

Resilience Our Stand Tall virtue this fortnight is resilience. Resilience is an extremely important attribute for our For Your Calendar children to learn and apply to their lives. Resilience is being able to bounce back from stress, challenges, tragedy, trauma or adversity. When children are resilient they are braver, more curious, Tuesday 28 March more adaptable, and more able to extend their reach into the world.  Beeliar Family Playgroup The great news is that resilience is something that can be nurtured in all children and as a community 9.00am-10.30am we can support our children at Beeliar to become ‘tough eggs’. Building small humans into healthy, thriving big ones isn’t about clearing adversity out of their way. Of course, if we could scoop them up Friday 31 March and lift them over the things that would cause them to stumble, that would be a wonderful thing, but it  Jump Rope for Heart Jump- Off day wouldn’t necessarily be doing them any favours.  P&C Disco A little bit of stress is life-giving and helps them to develop the skills they need to flourish. Strengthening them towards healthy living is about nurturing within them the strategies to deal with Monday 3 April that adversity. Through Stand Tall we will be giving our children the strategies to be strong, face  Parade challenges and ultimately find purpose, meaning and happiness in life. 2.00pm undercover area CONGRATULATIONS to our wonderful Interschool teams who participated in the Summer Tuesday 4 April Carnival on Friday. Please support the P&C by encouraging your child to come along to the Beeliar end of term disco this Friday. Friday 7 April Easter Bonnet Parade – Monday 3rd April. Celebrate the end of term and Easter with us at our  ANZAC Service 9.00am Easter Bonnet parade. There will be prizes for the most creative and I am sure the might deliver some easter eggs! ANZAC Service -Friday 7th April. This is a very special Beeliar event and will be a solemn, moving

service. Please join us to say thank you to our Australian heroes. School Board Nominations The school would like to invite parents to nominate for two vacant positions on the School Board. The membership would be for a period of three years. All nominations are to be received by the Principal before 4:00pm Friday 7 April. School Board members may: *help monitor, review and evaluate aspects of the school business planning and are aware of the components of the delivery and Performance Agreement; *endorse the business plan which outlines the key directions of the school; *endorse the annual school report, annual school budget and student performance targets; *endorse financial arrangements necessary to fund school objectives, priorities and directions; *approve charges, contributions and items of personal use (booklists); *determine in consultation with students, parents and staff, a dress code for students; *help formulate codes of conduct for students; and *promote the school in the community.

Well, after 17 years we are going to be moving forward into the 21st century and no longer publish the newsletter in a paper format from Term 2 2017.

We will be sending our newsletter and any information for parents via our Tiqbiz app, Facebook and website.

Any paperwork that needs to be signed will still go home with students.

Shining our spotlight on…...

On Tuesday February 28, 10 girls ranging from Pre Primary to Year 6 came along to join the All Girls football clinic from the South Fremantle development squad and we did a few drills with her. We played a couple of ball games with the football, then did some handpassing and finally practiced kicking some goals. I got all of mine through the big sticks! It was great to see the girls that turned up having fun and look forward to possibly having another session sometime in Term 2. Written by Chelsea TA16

On Monday 27 March, TA6 and Mrs Rick performed an assembly item on the virtue of Resilience. We performed the song ‘Try POWERPOWER Everything’ from the movie Zootopia. The message of the song is ‘don’t give up’ and that HOURHOUR ‘mistakes help us to learn.
