How to Use This Guide
How to Use this Guide The New-York Historical Society, one of America’s pre-eminent cultural institutions, is dedicated to fostering research, presenting history and art exhibitions, and public programs that reveal the dynamism of history and its influence on the world of today. Founded in 1804, New-York Historical has a mission to explore the richly layered political, cultural and social history of New York City and State and the nation, and to serve as a national forum for the discussion of issues surrounding the making and meaning of history. Student Historians are high school interns at New-York Historical who explore our museum and library collection and conduct research using the resources available to them within a museum setting. Their project this academic year was to create a guide for fellow high school students preparing for U.S. History Exams, particularly the U.S. History & Government Regents Exam. Each Student Historian chose a piece from our collection that represents a historical event or theme often tested on the exam, collected and organized their research, and wrote about their piece within its historic context. The intent is that this catalog will provide a valuable supplemental review material for high school students preparing for U.S. History Exams. The following summative essays are all researched and written by the 2015-16 Student Historians, compiled in chronological order, and organized by unit. Each essay includes an image of the object or artwork from the N-YHS collection that serves as the foundation for the U.S. History content reviewed. Additional educational supplementary materials include a glossary of frequently used terms, review activities including a crossword puzzle as well as questions and answers taken from past U.S. -
“Killing Jesus”? by Clark Blanchard
What About…the Book “Killing Jesus”? By Clark BlanChard Recently, Fox News anchor and syndicated newspaper columnist Bill O’Reilly and historian Martin Dugard added “Killing Jesus” to their very popular book series, “Killing Lincoln” and “Killing Kennedy.” So, from a biblical perspec- tive, what about this very popular book, “Killing Jesus”? “Killing Jesus” claims to be an historical record, not a theological book. Al- though both authors are Roman Catholic, neither claims to be theologians. They write, “We are historical investigators and are interested primarily in telling the truth about important people, not converting anyone to a spiritual cause…. To understand what Jesus accomplished and how he paid with his life, we have to understand what was happening around him. His was a time when Rome domi- nated the Western world and brooked no dissent. Human life was worth little. Life expectancy was less than forty years, and far less if you happened to anger the Roman powers that were” (pp. 2-3). Part 2 of 3. Your briefing this week is part of a special edition series from Economic War Room at the Falkirk Center Freedom Summit. Economic and political weapon systems are being pointed at the United States at record levels all while Wall Street firms are investing in the Chinese Communist Party with your money! This is a dynamic that must be countered by Americans now. A closer look at the NSIC Institute and how Americans can “weaponize their money” to align with their values and biblical principles. Eric Bolling and Nan Hayworth facilitate the discussion on new ways to harness our economic power to ensure conservative outcomes. Your Mission: This is a panel discussion on how to weaponize your investments with conservative and biblical principles. “This is not a traditional war where you’re going to kiss your spouse goodbye and you are going to get on a boat and go fight a war somewhere. It’s an economic war. It’s a war targeting average American individuals. And if you’re going to fight that economic war, you got to get your weapons. And if it’s an economic war, your weapon is your money.” –Kevin Freeman page 1 China summit - falkirk center 4.122 CLEARED FOR RELEASE 01/21/2021 [Economic Battle PlanTM points: 87) Ep. 4-122 (OSINT) Open-Sourced Intelligence Briefing. -

Elections are at the foundation of our democracy, but voters sometimes cast their ballots without critical information about presidential candidates. This report calls for requirements that candidates release more personal financial information, including five years of tax returns, and undergo criminal and intelligence background checks. The report also advocates for a system allowing candidates to submit to voluntary medical exams with some results released to the public. This report was researched and written during the 2018-2019 academic year by students in Fordham Law School’s Democracy and the Constitution Clinic, which is focused on developing non-partisan recommendations to strengthen the nation’s institutions and its democracy. -

As such, books remain an important Boston, USA cultural product, consumed widely. Yet, while over 3 million books are published each 2CompleX Lab, Web Sciences Center, University of Electronic year, very few are read widely and less than 500 make it to the New York Times Science and Technology of China, bestseller lists. And once there, only a handful of authors can command the lists for Chengdu, China more than a few weeks. Here we bring a big data approach to book success by Full list of author information is available at the end of the article investigating the properties and sales trajectories of bestsellers. We find that there are seasonal patterns to book sales with more books being sold during holidays, and even among bestsellers, fiction books sell more copies than nonfiction books. General fiction and biographies make the list more often than any other genre books, and the higher a book’s initial place in the rankings, the longer the book stays on the list as well. Looking at patterns characterizing authors, we find that fiction writers are more productive than nonfiction writers, commonly achieving bestseller status with multiple books. -

The Fox/Sky Takeover
THE FOX/SKY TAKEOVER WHY A PHASE TWO REFERRAL ON BROADCASTING STANDARDS IS NEEDED TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC INTEREST 14 JULY 2017 1 Introduction The Secretary of State’s minded-to decision not to refer the 21st Century Fox bid for Sky on Broadcasting Standards relies on an Ofcom assessment which is incomplete and seriously flawed. This submission exposes these limitations and flaws, including that: ● Ofcom was willing to ignore significant evidence and accept assurances from Fox and the Murdoch Family Trust at face value ● Ofcom accepted a new compliance process as evidence that Fox is committed to Broadcasting Standards, but has failed to proactively ensure it is effective. Fox is currently broadcasting materials that break the Standard. ● Ofcom has failed to fully investigate a range of material concerns, including Fox’s UK broadcasts, the experience of Sky Australia after it was taken over by Fox, and a corporate governance failure at News America Marketing that resulted in financial settlements significantly higher than those paid for phone hacking. This submission additionally presents new evidence on the issues reviewed by Ofcom, including: ● Continued breaches of UK Broadcasting Standards by Fox News since it implemented its new compliance policy on 15th May 2017 ● Biased and inflammatory coverage at Sky Australia, which Fox took over fully last December ● The pervasive effects of slanted coverage by Fox which Ofcom should have considered, particularly in light of their statement that “Sky News is a trusted voice for those who use it”1 ● The News America Marketing scandal which sheds significant light on the Murdoch Family Trust’s approach to corporate governance.
