Page 1 of 189 Version 01 Codebook ------------------- CODEBOOK APPENDIX FILE 1987 PILOT STUDY (1987.PN) USER NOTE: This file has been converted to electronic format via OCR scanning. As as result, the user is advised that some errors in character recognition may have resulted within the text. >> OPEN-END RESPONSES FOR THE 1987 PILOT WAVES 1 AND 2 N.B. 1. The first part of this section is a memo by John Zaller, "Cognitive Responses to Survey Questions" which documents and discusses the coding scheme for the cognitive experiments on the Pilot Study. Those who plan to use these data should, without fail, read this memo. 2. The Zaller memo is followed by the open-end master codes: a) direction of response b) emotional intensity and elaboration of thought c) Frame of reference and content code 3. Numerous variables refer to PF 10. PF 10 is a function key used by CATI interviewers in recording comments of respondents. These side comments have been coded for this study. 4. In Wave 2 variables, respondents who were interviewed in Wave 1 but not re-interviewed in Wave 2 have had data variables padded with O's. This is not explicitly stated in the variable documentation. COGNITIVE RESPONSES TO SURVEY QUESTIONS The 1987 Pilot study carried a series of questions designed to elicit information about what is on people's minds as they respond to survey questions. The basic method was to ask individuals a standard policy question and then to use open-ended probes tofind out what exactly the individual thought about that issue. -
Bernie Sanders Correspondence on 2.25.16
Democracy Amendment USA Shifting from a bribery-based Republic & highly-toxic Oil Economy that is making the Earth uninhabitable to a majority-rule Democracy ASAP, and a Solar Hydrogen Economy worldwide by 2025. Prepared for Senator Bernie Sanders Democratic Presidential Candidate by Harry Braun Independent Presidential Candidate Senior Scientist and author of the Democracy Amendment. The pieces to the puzzle include the endless and tragic Oil Wars; scientist Harry Braun; the Oil Age that is almost over; wind-sourced hydrogen can power the world; a BMW hydrogen V-12 engine and liquid hydrogen storage tank; a liquid hydrogen tanker; a Lockheed OTEC plant; Windships; and a Honda solar hydrogen production and pumping system. Princeton and Harvard University studies have documented that oil lobbyists secured well over $18 trillion from American taxpayers for oil wars and tanker protection services since 1970, when 2.7 million, two- megawatt wind-powered hydrogen production systems, which would cost less than $5 trillion, would have permanently replaced all of the oil and other fossil and nuclear fuels and chemicals now used in the USA. Wind-powered hydrogen production and engine conversion systems have been in use since the 1800’s, although Henry Ford demonstrated in the 1920’s that the least expensive hydrogen, ethanol and plastics came from cannabis, which is non-toxic and renewable. Every existing engine, vehicle and power plant can be modified to use hydrogen made from the sun, wind, water and biomass, which is the only known option for providing “sustainable prosperity without pollution,” while powering indoor “Lifeboat” and larger “Ark” organic food production systems that will be critical for surviving the climate change chaos that the National Academy of Sciences has testified is already destroying major food production systems worldwide. -

Since perfection is not for any one of us, please excuse errors, and no doubt, omissions. It was the intention of this committee to present a history of the pioneers of this area, of those families who were established in this area before 1925. The limit of our area would be that which is now the Wing Public School District # 28. Some one said we are 25 years too late in this venture, you have lost so much in that time, but, it is time it was being done. -

Page 1 of 228 Version 01 Codebook ------------------- CODEBOOK APPENDIX FILE 1992 PRE-POST STUDY (1992.TN) >> 1980 CENSUS DEFINITIONS This note contains definitions of terms used by the 1980 U.S. Census of Population. STANDARD METROPOLITAN STATISTICAL AREAS (SMSA's): The general concept of a metropolitan area is one of a large population nucleus, together with adjacent communities that have a high degree of economic and social integration with that nucleus. Each SMSA has one or more central counties containing the area's main population concentration: an urbanized area with at least 50,000 inhabitants. An SMSA may also include outlying counties that have close economic and social relationships with the central counties. The outlying counties must have a specified level of commuting to the central counties and must also meet certain standards regarding metropolitan character, such as population density, urban population and population growth. In New England, SMSA's are composed of cities and towns rather than whole counties. The population living in SMSA's may also be referred to as the metropolitan population. The population is subdivided into "inside central city (or cities)" and "outside central city (or cities)." (The population living outside SMSA's constitutes the non-metropolitan population.) Most SMSA's have one to three CENTRAL CITIES that are named in the census title of the SMSA. STANDARD CONSOLIDATED STATISTICAL AREAS (SCSA's): In some parts of the country, metropolitan development has progressed to the point that adjoining SMSA's are themselves socially and economically interrelated. These areas are designated standard consolidated statistical areas (SCSA's) by the Office of Management and Budget, and are defined using standards included as part of the new SMSA standards described above. -

Harry Braun's Letter to CBS News Regarding the "So-Called" Democratic Debate
Democratic Presidential Candidate Harry Braun's Letter to CBS News regarding the "so-called" Democratic Debate Harry Braun is shown in his office above with Lockheed solar ocean thermal hydrogen production systems behind him on the left and "Windship" hydrogen production systems on the right that were developed by engineering professor William Heronemus, who served as a former superintendent of shipbuilding for the United States Navy. Both systems could have been mass-produced in the 1800's, and either one of these technologies could replace all fossil and nuclear fuels in the USA and worldwide while providing a vast sanctuary for the remaining fish and other marine organisms that are in the final stages of being hunted into extinction November 1, 2015 Mr. Scott Pelley CBS Evening News Dear Scott, I am writing to ask if anyone at CBS has yet reviewed the 14 reasons why I should be included in the Democratic Debate (which are included below), or my book and other campaign position papers that I have sent regarding replacing the highly-toxic and unsustainable Oil Economy with a solar-sourced Hydrogen Economy that requires no R&D because the wind and other solar hydrogen fuel production technologies and engine systems have been in use since the 1800’s. One expects presidential campaigns to be about the quality of ideas presented, but my campaign message is a dreadfully serious one that involves educating the public about the oil and other fossil fuel-induced climate change chaos that is now causing the 6th Mass-Extinction event in the Earth’s history, which is already destroying food production systems worldwide.
