ELECTION RESULTS FOR THE U.S. PRESIDENT, U.S. SENATE AND THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES The following official election results for the U.S. Presidential, Senatorial and Congressional elections held on November 3, 1992, have been prepared by the Federal Election Commission. The Commission undertakes this project biennially in order to respond to public inquiries it receives. Recognizing a need to bring together in one place all the Federal election results, the Commission presents this publication as the sixth in a series designed to provide an accurate, historical record of Federal election results. Also included in the publication for the first time are the official election results for the U.S. Presidential primaries that 39 states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, held in 1992. This section supercedes the publication 1992 Presidential Primary Election Results issued in August 1992. Data is based on official figures provided by State election officials, and includes several updates through June 24, 1993. If the election results are modified in the future, the Commission will supply errata supplements as necessary. The assistance provided by the State election officials and their staff in gathering this data is greatly appreciated. Notes: • For each state, the terms used in its entry are the ones that appear on the tally of the official election results. • Write-in votes are shown as disclosed by the state. Some states list the names of candidates who received write-in votes, while others provide a write-in vote total without the names of the candidates who received the votes. Still other states combine these two variations and provide the names of some candidates who received write-in votes and a total of write-in votes for all the other candidates. • Election results for the California Senate special election, New York 8th district special election and North Carolina 1st district special election, held on November 3, 1992, are included in the vote totals. • "Total Votes" represents all the valid votes cast for the candidates in the election. • The percentage of votes received by each candidate is based on the figure of total votes. This publication has been prepared as a research tool for Commission staff and State election offices. Additional copies may be ordered from the National Technical Information Service (NTIS), U.S. Department of Commerce, 5285 Port Royal Road, Springfield, Virginia 22161. -1- 1992 GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS The following three sections present the general election results for the U.S. President, Senate and House elections held on November 3, 1993.
