Project Summary

To cater the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) requirements of , , & Raigad districts etc. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) proposes to construct a new LPG Bottling plant along with laying of LPG receipt pipeline. The project site is located at , Tehsil- /, District-Raigad, .

The proposed bottling capacity of the LPG plant will be 540 thousand metric tonne per annum (TMTPA). LPG receipt is proposed by laying a pipeline of 0.6 MMTPA capacity of approx. 3 kilometer from Sectionalizing valve (SV) station 2 of - Chakan LPG pipeline to proposed Rasayani LPG plant.

LPG will be received through proposed spur line from Uran–Chakan LPG pipeline and will be stored in 3 Mounted Storage Vessels (MSV), each of capacity 1450 MT. LPG will be pumped from MSV to filling shed consist of 2X48 station electronic carousal for cylinder filling operation. Filled LPG cylinders will be dispatched to the market by packed lorries. In phase 2 of the project in future 3 more MSVs each of capacity of 1450 MT and two more 48 station electronic carousal is envisaged.

Government of (Cabinet Committee of Economic affairs) has approved 442 acres of sale of land at Rasayani by M/s Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited (HOCL) to BPCL in May 2017. Government of Maharashtra has also issued their NOC for sale of 442 acres of land by HOCL to BPCL. The land of project site is approx. 48 acres of the above approved 442 acres.

The site is located in Rasayani, District Raigad of Maharashtra. The project site is outside Eco Sensitive Zone around Karnala Wildlife Sanctuary as notified vide S.O. 230(E) dated 22.01.2016 & is approx. 2.5 kilometers away from the ESZ boundary. The proposed receipt pipeline for LPG from SV-2 to Rasayani does not pass through any national park/sanctuaries/coral reefs/ecologically sensitive areas.

As per EIA notification 2006, though the project is classified under category B under activity schedule no. 6(b) of EIA notification 2006, however is considered as category A project, since it is located within 5 kilometer from the boundary of Karnala Wildlife Sanctuary (Protected area notified under Wildlife Protection Act 1972).
