Mike Moroski ..................................................... Head Coach Mike Cody ..................................... Co-Offensive Coordinator The Coyotes are playing their 17th season at Simplot Stadium, beginning competition in 1964. C of I has an all-time record of 28-45-3, with the 2014 and 2015 teams two of four team (joining the 1968 and 1969 clubs) to post a .500 or better home Chris Jewell ....................................... Defensive Coordinator record. D’Andre Goodwin ......................................... Wide Receivers The Yotes are 23-12-1 in home openers since 1942, including nine-straight wins from 1962-70. C of I has won their past two Jason DiStefano ............................................ Defensive Line home openers, coming at the heels of a seven-game losing skid from 1971-77. Twice, the Coyotes have won six-straight opening games (1946-51 and 1959-64). Khayree Marshall .......................................... Defensive Ends The Coyotes have played in two bowl games in program history, winning the 1948 Pear Bowl, 27-20, over Southern Oregon, Jon Choate ........................................................ Linebackers and losing the 1953 Refrigerator Bowl, 14-12, to Sam Houston State IN THE BOOTH Mitch Dahlen ................................. Co-Offensive Coordinator FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW Jonathan Maricic ........................................... Running Backs A pair of College of Idaho student-athletes were honored as Preseason NAIA All-Americans by the Sporting News. Nate Moore, who became the Yotes first-ever first-team NAIA All-American, and Marcus Lenhardt, C of I’s only two-time All- Adam Byrne ....................................................... Linebackers Frontier Conference selection, were among the 24 players listed in the national publication. C of I joined Marian (Ind.) and St. Xavier (Ill.) as the only schools to have more than one selection, while only two other Frontier Conference teams had a Matt Strong ................................................. Defensive Backs representative - Montana Tech running back Nolan Saraceni and Southern Oregon defensive back Julius Rucker. Collins Cameron ......................................... Defensive Backs After finishing in a four-way tie for fourth-place in the final 2015 standings, the Coyotes were picked to finish fifth in the Frontier Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, released Aug. 2 at the annual conference media day. The Yotes received 25 voter points from the seven other coaches in the league (coaches are unable to vote for their own team) - just behind Eastern RADIO BROADCAST Oregon (27 points). Defending national runner-up Southern Oregon was picked to win the league with 48 voter points, just ahead of defending regular-season champion Montana Tech (42 points) and perennial power Carroll College (38 points). Montana Western (20 points), Rocky Mountain (17 points) and Montana State-Northern (7 points) rounded out the poll. Radio Stations .................. ESPN Boise (96.5-FM / 730-AM) Play-by-Play ................................................. Mike Safford Jr. C of I stunned No. 10 Eastern Oregon last Saturday night in La Grande, 20-7, picking up the Yotes first-ever road win against a Top-25 opponent. It was the highest-ranked team ever defeated by the Coyotes (had topped No. 13 EOU last season) and Color Analyst ................................................... Kelly Barbour coupled with the 42-12 win at Willamette on Sept. 10, marked the first time since 1974 that the team had won consecutive road Sideline Reporter ............................................ Jake McClean games. Defense was the key for the Coyotes, limiting an Eastern team that had averaged 40 points per game to just a first quarter touchdown - holding the Mountaineers without a point for the final 57 minutes of the contest. C of I had a bend-but-don’t -break mentality, stopping EOU five separate times on fourth down opportunities, four of them in the red zone. For his efforts, Nate Moore was honored as Frontier Conference and NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week - the first Coyote to earn the honor since Week 2 of the 2014 season (Cory Brady). Moore established a new school record with 16 tackles in the win, including three stops at or behind the line of scrimmage. Tight end Marcus Lenhardt established a new career high with 10 receptions in the rain at Eastern Oregon, becoming just the fourth C of I player in program history to catch 10 passes in a single game (R.C. Owens had 12 receptions vs. Lewis & Clark and 15 receptions vs. the Seattle Ramblers during his career from 1952-55; Cisco Limbago had 10 receptions vs. Whitman in 1969; Tyler Higby had 10 receptions vs. Montana Western in 2015). Lenhardt ranks No. 3 in the Frontier Conference with 19 receptions on the season, while moving into a tie for second on the all-time C of I receptions list with 102 - needing just eight catches to pass Owens for the all-time mark (109). Homecoming on the C of I campus (themed “Taking Care of Business”) is set for the week of October 6-9, culminating with the football match-up against Carroll College. For more information, visit www.collegeofidaho.edu/alumni/homecoming for a list of events and to register or contact the alumni office at 459-5770. 1 GAME 4 • SEPTEMBER 24, 2016 • ROCKY MOUNTAIN AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO • SIMPLOT STADIUM (4,726) • CALDWELL, IDAHO LAST MEETING: Marcus Lenhardt caught eight passes for 143 and three touchdowns, as the Coyotes scored the final 21 points of the contest, topping Rocky Mountain, 38-17, on Oct. 17, 2015 at Simplot Stadium.
