Linebackers Frontier Conference selection, were among the 24 players listed in the national publication. C of I joined Marian (Ind.) and St. Xavier (Ill.) as the only schools to have more than one selection, while only two other Frontier Conference teams had a Matt Strong ................................................. Defensive Backs After finishing in a four-way tie for fourth-place in the final 2015 standings, the Coyotes were picked to finish fifth in the Frontier Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, released Aug. 2 at the annual conference media day. The Yotes received 25 voter points from the seven other coaches in the league (coaches are unable to vote for their own team) - just behind Eastern RADIO BROADCAST Oregon (27 points). Defending national runner-up Southern Oregon was picked to win the league with 48 voter points, just ahead of defending regular-season champion Montana Tech (42 points) and perennial power Carroll College (38 points). Montana Western (20 points), Rocky Mountain (17 points) and Montana State-Northern (7 points) rounded out the poll. Radio Stations .................. Mike Safford Jr. C of I stunned No. 10 Eastern Oregon last Saturday night in La Grande, 20-7, picking up the Yotes first-ever road win against a Top-25 opponent. It was the highest-ranked team ever defeated by the Coyotes (had topped No. 13 EOU last season) and Color Analyst ................................................... Kelly Barbour coupled with the 42-12 win at Willamette on Sept. 10, marked the first time since 1974 that the team had won consecutive road Sideline Reporter ............................................ Defense was the key for the Coyotes, limiting an Eastern team that had averaged 40 points per game to just a first quarter touchdown - holding the Mountaineers without a point for the final 57 minutes of the contest. C of I had a bend-but-don’t -break mentality, stopping EOU five separate times on fourth down opportunities, four of them in the red zone. For his efforts, Nate Moore was honored as Frontier Conference and NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week - the first Coyote to earn the honor since Week 2 of the 2014 season (Cory Brady). Moore established a new school record with 16 tackles in the win, including three stops at or behind the line of scrimmage. Tight end Marcus Lenhardt established a new career high with 10 receptions in the rain at Eastern Oregon, becoming just the fourth C of I player in program history to catch 10 passes in a single game (R.C. Owens had 12 receptions vs. Lewis & Clark and 15 receptions vs. the Seattle Ramblers during his career from 1952-55; Cisco Limbago had 10 receptions vs. Whitman in 1969; Tyler Higby had 10 receptions vs. Montana Western in 2015). Lenhardt ranks No. 3 in the Frontier Conference with 19 receptions on the season, while moving into a tie for second on the all-time C of I receptions list with 102 - needing just eight catches to pass Owens for the all-time mark (109). The Yotes held a 17-3 halftime lead, but the Bears scored two quick third quarter touchdowns to get even, before Teejay Gordon connected with Lenhardt on scoring passes of 18-yards and 21- yards and Kyle Merritt scored on a 21-yard touchdown run to cap the victory. Gordon finished 21-of-27 for 260 yards in the win for the Yotes. Kodee Varder rushed for 97 yards and Chase White passed for 320 yards in the loss for Rocky, but was picked off twice by the C of I secondary. 2016 Team Comparison C OF I OFFENSE VS.
