Thermophilous species are represented by interesting records, namely Suillia gigantea (Meigen, 1830), S. lu - rida (Meigen, 1830) , S. variegata (Loew, 1862) (all Heleomyzidae), Minettia subvittata (Loew, 1847), Peplomyza discoidea (Meigen, 1830) (both Lauxaniidae), and Otites lamed (Schrank, 1781) (Ulidiidae). Vol. 35-36, 2005/6, pp. 497-586 Myennidini, a New Tribe of the Subfamily Otitinae (Diptera: Ulidiidae), with Discussion of the Suprageneric Classification of the Family Elena Kameneva1 and Valery Korneyev2 ABSTRACT The diagnoses of all six tribes of Ulidiidae are revised. The Myennidini, new tribe (subfamily Otitinae), is defined to include 14 genera: Myennis Robineau- Desvoidy, Oedopa Loew, Stictomyia Bigot, Paroedopa Coquillett, Pseudotephritis Johnson, Callopistromyia Hendel, Stictoedopa Brèthes, Pseudotephritina Malloch, Dyscrasis Aldrich, Ulidiotites Steyskal, Pseudodyscrasis Hernández, Arborotites Barraclough, Namibotites Barraclough, and Neodyscrasis Kameneva and Korneyev, n. gen. (type species: Pseudodyscrasis steyskali Hernández, 1988). These genera were previously erroneously assigned either to the Ulidiini or to the Pterocallini; the latter tribe is shown here to belong to the subfamily Ulidiinae. A phylogenetic analysis is provided for the tribes of Ulidiidae and the genera of Myennidini. Most genera are redescribed, and the distributions of all the species are discussed, including new records. The following synonymy is established: Myennis tricolor Hendel, 1909 = Myennis nebulosa Krivosheina and Krivosheina, 1997, n. syn. Some insects from beer traps in westernmost Ukraine. — The results of beer trapping from westernmost Ukraine (Uzhhorod and Mukacheve Raion) are presented. From all obtained insect taxa more attention was dedicated to selected groups: Dermaptera, Diptera (Anisopodidae, Bibionidae, Heleomyzidae, Lauxaniidae, Scatopsidae and Ulidiidae) and Mecoptera. Altogether 17 taxa were recorded. Four species, namely bibionid Dilophus bispinosus Lundström, 1913, scatopsids Scatopse notata (Linnaeus, 1758) and Apiloscatopse scutellata (Loew, 1846), and scorpion- flyPanorpa vulgaris Imhoff & Labram, 1845 represent the first records from Ukraine, and the records ofCallopistromyia annulipes Macquart, 1855 and Euxesta notata (Wiedemann, 1830) are verified. Section Reports Florida, This Is the Least Common, Having Previously Been Reported Botany Section 2 from Only a Single Location in Leon County
DACS-P-00124 Volume 53, Number 3, May-June 2014 DPI’s Bureau of Entomology, Nematology and Plant Pathology (the botany section is included in this bureau) produces TRI- OLOGY six times a year, covering two months of activity in each issue. The report includes detection activities from nursery plant inspections, routine and emergency program surveys, and requests for identification of plants and pests from the public. Samples are also occasionally sent from other states or countries for identification or diagnosis. Highlights Hydrocotyle bowlesioides Mathias & Constance (largeleaf marshpennywort). Of the six species of Hydrocotyle found in Section Reports Florida, this is the least common, having previously been reported Botany Section 2 from only a single location in Leon County. Native to Costa Rica and Panama, largeleaf marshpennywort has naturalized in parts Entomology Section 5 of South America, Hawaii and New Zealand. This is only the fourth time the species has been documented from the continental Nematology Section 10 United States, and the first time it has been found in a nursery setting. Previously, it has been reported from lawns in Thomasville, Plant Pathology Section 12 Hydrocotyle bowlesioides (largeleaf Georgia, and Tallahassee, Florida, and from an unspecified habitat marshpennywort) (based on a herbarium specimen with limited data) in western Photograph courtesy of Forest and Kim Starr, wikipedia Louisiana. Aphelenchoides fragariae (Ritzema-Bos, 1890) Christie, 1932, the spring crimp nematode, was detected in leaves of Stachys officinalis (a plant known as wood betony, bishop’s wort or common hedgenettle). Infestations of this foliar nematode on this ornamental have been known in Europe for more than 50 years, but it is not commonly found in the United States. -

Pri vsaki vrsti so na kratko obravnavane diagnostične značilnosti, bionomija, prehranjevalne značilnosti, razširjenost ter potencialne gospodarske in okoljske grožnje. Vse nove vrste so tudi fotografsko dokumentirane. Napravljen je ključ za določanje vrst tujerodnega rodu Euxesta, ki se pojavljajo v Evropi. The International Journal of Comparative Psychology, Vol. 2, No. 1, Fall 1988 BEHAVIOR AND TAXONOMY OF A CHYMOMYZID FLY (CHYMOMYZIA AMOENA) Henretta Trent Band ABSTRACT: Molecular genetics studies on the chymomyzids have produced divergent results on their relation to the genus Drosophila. Behavior has been used to assess the appropriateness of their inclusion in the genus (Maclntyre and Collier, 1986) or off the drosophilid main stem (Beverley and Wilson, 1984). Laboratory and natural population studies on Chymuniyza amoena in Michigan and Virginia and observations on multiple species aggregations at natural sites in 1986 and 1987 in Virginia's Allegheny Mountains have been carried out. Wing-waving and foreleg splaying are characteristics of both sexes. In nature, females do not approach males until sexually mature. All population sizes seem small. Studies on C. amoena indicate that behavioral phenotypic plasticity exists for all stages: lanal feeding substrates, pupation site choice, mating system, egg deposition and oviposition site selection. Behavioral traits shared with the lek Drosophila (Hawaiian and Australian), genus Scaptomyza, subgenus Scaptodrosophila, subgenus Sophophora and genua Lissocepha I a among the drosophilids, and the tephritids, otitids and hyinenopterans outside the family Drosophilidae suggest that chymomyzids retain characteristics of primitive drosophilids that have undergone selective modification in the evolution of different drosophilid lineages. Significant differences in aggression between Michigan and Virginia C. amoena populations support this conclusion. Throckmorton (1962, 1966) anticipated the chymomyzid relation to the drosophilid stem from external and internal anatomical studies. A wood breeding habitat of most forest chymomyzids is also in agreement with recent molecular genetics evidence that fermented fruit breeding evolved later in drosophilid evolution.
