ASKOLL eB1 and eS1

Italian-made electric vehicles for sustainable urban mobility

50% of everyday trips in urban areas are under 5 km and in many cases, we waste more time sitting in traffic or hunting for a parking space we do actually travelling, and that's without even considering the exorbitant amounts spent on maintenance, refuelling and parking. For all these reasons, electric vehicles are today a logical choice for better quality of life in towns and cities.

The philosophy that inspired the design of Askoll electric products – the eB1 pedal-assisted bicycle and the eS1 electric scooter – is based on 4 guiding factors:

eB1: THE PEDAL-ASSISTED BICYCLE

The Askoll eB1 is an Italian-made bicycle which, thanks to its four different pedal assistances modes and automatic transmission, allows you to get around in a sustainable way, tackling hills and long journeys effortlessly.

The design, the battery, the control unit and the whole drive unit are all designed and produced at the Askoll plant in Vicenza.

The eB1 model features meticulous attention to detail: from topstitching on the saddle and handlebar grips, to the automatic transmission integrated in the hub, plus ergonomically designed brake levers that conceal the braking system cables and preserve the vehicle's clean lines. In addition, the onboard computer mounted on the handlebar is simple and intuitive, keeping you updated on the battery charge and remaining running time.

The aluminium frame is shaped to facilitate correct posture and mounting and dismounting, while the ergonomic saddle guarantees optimum comfort while pedalling.

Askoll two-wheeled vehicles are fitted with next-generation lithium-ion batteries with components, which allow you to travel up to 80 km with a single charging cycle, at a speed of 25 km/h.

The 300 Wh lithium-ion battery is mounted up front, weighing just 2.6 kg and it powers the which is integrated in the front hub. The front-heavy design guarantees excellent stability and makes the vehicle extremely manageable and nimble. The battery, which can be removed with the greatest of ease, can be charged in just five hours at a virtually negligible cost: just 5 euro cents. Calculating an average journey of 10 km per day, you'll be able to get around for 5 euro cents every ten days, or less than 2 euro per year, with no worries about parking or traffic.

The eB1 bicycle can be customised, choosing from a range of colours (14 different combinations), accessories (baskets, pannier racks, pannier bags) and specialist clothing, thanks to a partnership with the Tucano Urbano brand.

eS1: THE ELECTRIC SCOOTER

The Askoll eS1 electric scooter is an Italian-made vehicle designed and built to run on electricity (so it is not an internal combustion engine scooter subsequently converted to accommodate an electric motor) and it offers three different travel modes: Eco, for minimum battery consumption; Normal, for everyday urban trips; Power, ideal for particularly hilly cities.

Askoll eS1 features lightweight, ergonomic design that makes it pleasantly manoeuvrable. It has a LED lighting system, a handy battery compartment and a durable but lightweight chassis. It is fitted with an Askoll brushless electric motor which delivers superb energy efficiency, with power of 1.5 kW and torque of 100 Nm. It is powered by a Panasonic lithium-ion battery pack with a total capacity of 2.1 kWh weighing 8 kg. An optional second battery pack is available. The batteries are easily removed and can be charged by plugging into any household electricity socket.

Calculating an average of 20 km per day, with Askoll eS1 you'll be able to get around for less than 20 euro per year. Maintenance costs, too, are virtually negligible.

The hydraulic telescopic front suspension and mono-shock rear suspension, coupled with large tyres (80/80 16 front and 90/80 16 rear) make it perfect for getting around, with super-silent running and no worries about parking. The large wheels feature dual compound tyres (softer edges and harder-wearing in the centre) for lower rolling resistance on straights and increased cornering grip.

The Askoll electric motor cuts carbon dioxide emissions by 90%: the Askoll scooter indirectly produces (i.e. in the electricity generation from non-renewable sources) just 7 g/km of CO2 compared to the 70 g/km of CO2 produced by a 50 cc with an internal combustion engine and the 100 g/km of a supermini car.

The culmination of research conducted by a group of over 100 specialised sector technicians, the eS1 electric scooter by Askoll was developed as a single-seater vehicle and is available in six colour versions (black, white, yellow, red, orange and periwinkle).
