[email protected] F.A.Women’s Leeds knock out holders Leeds Utd have reached the Premier League Cup Final for the fourth time in six years following a 4-1 victory over Sunderland in the semi finals, avenging last year's Final defeat to the Wearsiders. After a cautious opening twenty minutes, Leeds broke the deadlock when Rachel Lee played the ball through to Tanya Rich who hit a powerful angled shot past Rachael Laws to put her side in front. Before Sunderland could recover, they found themselves two behind, Danielle Sheen finding the net via a superb 25-yard strike which found the top corner. Sunderland were missing leading goalscorer who was away on international duty with England Under-19s, but they got themselves back into the game on 32 minutes when Leeds were unable to clear a corner and Jordan Atkinson reacted quickly to score from close range. After the break, Sunderland pressed hard for an equaliser but lost another key player when Sophie Williams went off with an injury sustained when Leeds goalkeeper Jules Draycott made a brave save as she chased a Sarah McFadden through ball. Leeds defended strongly under pressure and also looked dangerous on the counter attack with Sheen going Leeds Utd’s Emma Lipman closed down by close and, despite Sunderland nearly levelling through Sunderland winger Sophie Williams McFadden and Joice, Leeds held firm and took a firm grip on (Catherine Tuckwell). the game when Abbie Lee increased their lead with two minutes remaining. Emma Lipman rounded off the win in injury time by heading in from a corner and Leeds will now play the winners of the other semi final between Aston Villa and Portsmouth, which will be played next Sunday. National Division Watford have gone top of the National Division after a last gasp winner gave them a 2-1 victory away to Portsmouth. Pompey got off to a great start and took the lead with just a minute on the clock when Shelly Cox finished off from a Gemma Hillier cross and the home side held on to their advantage at the interval. However on the hour mark Watford, who were without four players on international duty, levelled the scores through a Sadie Blakeley own goal from Cally Rowell's cross. Both sides had chances after that but as the game headed into injury time, Kate Natkiel scored with a well executed volley to give her side a vital win which lifts them above Sunderland, who were on Premier League Cup duty. Manchester City consolidated themselves in fourth place by beating City Ladies 3-1. Krystle Johnston opened the scoring in the first half and Abbie McManus added the second before half time. Zoe Atkins gave a depleted Abbey Joice is faced by Rachel Lee (Catherine Tuckwell). [email protected] Cardiff side hope when she pulled a goal back but Johnston made the game safe for the home side in the dying minutes. Aston Villa returned to winning ways with a 3-0 success against Barnet. Carly Davies gave Villa a tenth minute lead which they extended on the hour mark through Erin Vaughan. Davies wrapped up the win for her side with her second goal, five minutes from time. Coventry City increased the gap between themselves and the bottom two with a vital 1-0 win away to Charlton Athletic. Natasha Lynch scored the all-important goal for the Sky Blues midway through the first half. Northern Division Sheffield FC have gone nine points ahead in the Northern Division following their 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers. Kate Natkiel gets in a shot for Watford. Carla Ward and Kayleigh Mitchell ensured that Sheffield were two ahead by the half hour mark and Jodie Michalska added a third before half time. Suzanne Davies rounded off the scoring with seven minutes remaining to bring Sheffield closer to the title and bring Blackburn's hopes to a virtual end. Forest now appear to be Sheffield's only realistic challengers after they defeated Preston North End 3-2 to replace them in second place. Natasha Meade, Aileen Whelan and Stephanie Smith were on target for Forest, with Sarah Walker replying twice for Preston. Sporting Club Albion climbed into third place via a 3-0 victory away to Leicester City. Abby Pope netted a first half double for Albion and an own goal sealed the points midway through the second half. Newcastle Utd made the long trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers and returned home with a 1-0 win under their belts. Stacy Crooks scored the only goal of the game in the seventh minute and Newcastle defended well from that point, Philippa Wilson going closest for Wolves when she hit the bar. Southern Division Millwall Lionesses bounced back from defeat seven days previously to pick up a vital 2-0 win at Colchester Utd which maintains their four point lead at the top of the Southern Division. Leading scorer Emma Whitter netted both goals to get the Lionesses' title challenge back on course. Reading FC Women made sure of staying hard on their heels in second place after coming from behind to beat Yeovil Town 2-1. Grace Rapp had given Yeovil the lead but second half strikes from Stacie Donnelly and Stacey Wiggins earned Reading the points . Brighton & Hove Albion's last remaining chances were ended as they were beaten 2-1 by Tottenham Hotspur, who move out of the bottom two as a result. Mollie Kmita and Andrea Marcoci were on target for Spurs, with Brighton replying through Kim Stenning. Queen's Park Rangers remain at the foot of the table but added another important point to their tally from a 1-1 draw with West Ham Utd, who have gone back into third place. Lindsey Morgan netted for the Hammers, with Rangers' goal coming from Sophie Yeovil Town’s Laura Bray holds off Gemma Sims of Fogarty. Reading FC Women (www.jamesprickett.co.uk). [email protected] F.A.Women’s Cup Arsenal 6 Birmingham City 0 Birmingham City's defence of the FA Women's Cup was ended in brutal fashion with a 6-0 thrashing by Arsenal at Bishop's Stortford. The holders conceded three in each half in a dismal peformance with the Gunners warming up nicely for their Champions League semi final first leg against VFL Wolfsburg at the weekend. Blues were guilty of individual errors for at least three of the goals but the Arsenal finishing was of the highest order. After a cautious opening ten minutes, Arsenal took the lead when a Arsenal’s Gemma Davison is challenged by Issy Christiansen shot from the edge of the area found its way (www.jamesprickett.co.uk). past Marie Hourihan into the far corner. nearly added a second straight away but was denied by good work from the Blues keeper. Jordan Nobbs was given time and space to hammer an excellent 25-yard effort past Hourihan for the second. Blues finally put a passing move together on 34 minutes when Rachel Williams found whose cut back allowed Emily Simpkins to fire a shot which was deflected just wide of Emma Byrne's goal. The crucial third goal came when evaded her marker on the Arsenal right and a near post cross was met with a delicate angled header into the opposite corner by White for a three goal interval lead. Any hopes of a Birmingham comeback were extinguished within ten minutes of the restart by two more Arsenal goals of high quality. Yankey played a pass into a large gap in central defence for White to finish expertly then Davison was released on the right and her cut back was hammered into the net by on 54 minutes. Birmingham had a better spell by dint of changing personnel to offer the hard working Williams some much needed support. Byrne had to save from a Kate Wilkinson effort and Williams put a half chance wide. Arsenal were not finished and Davison latched on to more hesitant defending to break clear and round sub keeper and finish from a tight angle for the sixth. Earps denied Davison her hat trick with a smart save just before the final whistle. An unprecedented scoreline between any two WSL sides, let alone the top two from last season was totally unexpected. Birmingham have the chance to make amends against Chelsea on Sunday whilst Arsenal looked in sharp form to welcome their German visitors. The crowd of 520 were treated to some excellent team play and spectacular finishing from Arsenal assisted by a below par Blues performance.

Everton in Cup triumph Everton won the Liverpool FA County Cup with a 5-1 victory over Mossley Hill in the Final at County headquarters. Marley Forster netted twice for the Toffees during the first half, with Inayah Robinson-Greenidge joining her on the scoresheet ahead of half time. After the break, Everton completed the victory with further strikes from Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Lucy Whipp with Mossley's consolation coming from Sophie Perry. The Northern Combination side's Cup run had included victories over Tranmere Rovers and Liverpool Feds but the win completed a marvellous few days for Everton's reserve team after they retained the Midlands/North Division One title. [email protected] Wiggins winner lifts Royals Reading FC Women 2 Yeovil Town 1 Reading FC Women won a second comeback victory in as many weeks with a 2-1 victory over Yeovil Town at Tadley. Trailing to a Grace Rapp goal at the break, the Royals found a quick leveller then clinched all three points late on through a Stacey Wiggins header. Reading head to the title showdown at Millwall next week boosted by the comeback cameo appearance of League top scorer as well as three hard earned points. Reading threatened early on with Yeovil keeper Beth Howard having to block a cross at her near post and then rush from her line quickly twice to intercept through balls. Yeovil soon got into their stride and Rapp broke clear on the right for Stacey Pearson to test Grace Moloney with a header. Cheryl Williams went close for the home side, Grace Rapp tries to get past Harriet Scott shooting into the side netting but it was the visitors who (www.jamesprickett.co.uk). took the lead on 20 minutes. Laura Bray did well to play in Rapp who slid the ball as she turned past the advancing Moloney. The Glovers front runners were giving the Reading defence a tricky afternoon and Rapp set up Bray for a shot just wide on 35 minutes. Reading looked for the early pass behind the Yeovil back four but were generally well contained by skipper Rachael Edwards and her defensive partners. Alice Palmer hit a low cross which Stacie Donnelly just failed to turn in and Wiggins had a shot just wide after good work by Becky Jane but Reading went into the break still trailing. Reading got the lift they needed directly on the restart. Left back Harriet Scott got in a low cross from an overlap and Donnelly latched on to a miscued clearance to shoot home from close range on 46 minutes. Despite this boost, Reading were pushed back and nearly conceded when a defensive mix up forced Moloney into a scrambling block to deny Bray on the hour. Yeovil won a series of corners and Emma Brazell tested the defence with her delivery. Another fine move gave Katie Cook a shooting chance and her effort went just past the near post on 67 minutes. The arrival of Kirby for her first action since suffering a broken ankle at Lewes gave Reading an extra option going forward and she was soon in action up against Edwards who saw out the danger for a goal kick. The decisive goal came from a Williams corner on the left with eight minutes left. A far post delivery was met perfectly by right back Wiggins with a powerful header on the run for a vital lead. Yeovil pressed hard for an equaliser, Moloney saving well at the feet of Rapp from a Bray cross after good work from sub Shannon Osman. Another Brazell corner was headed inches wide of the far post by Jade Radburn. Rosie Williams came up from the back with a rampaging run but was crowded out as Reading were forced to play out the final minutes on the break. Reading had defended very well to contain Yeovil to half chances and took their own opportunities to claim a vital victory and complete a League double over the Somerset team. Yeovil played a full part in a very enjoyable match and may feel disappointed that they left Berkshire empty handed after a fine display of passing football.

[email protected] to play Germany and Iceland Scotland will face Europe's top ranked nation, Germany, in a friendly international this summer. Following Sunday's 2-1 win over , 's side will step up preparations for the FIFA World Cup Canada 2015 qualifiers later this year with an away double header of friendlies in June. Scotland will face Iceland at the national stadium in Reykjavík on Saturday 1 June, followed by double FIFA Women's World Cup and seven-time UEFA Women's Euro champions Germany in Essen - the home ground of Scotland international - two weeks later. Both Iceland and Germany will use the matches as part of their preparations for the Euro 2013 Finals in Sweden, which start the following month. The draw for the 2015 World Cup qualifiers will take place on 16 April and Scotland my face either nation in their qualifying group. Anna Signeul said: "These will be two very tough, but exciting matches. To continue our progression, we must test ourselves against the best opposition, and it doesn't come much more challenging than an away match against Germany. "We have already faced world number one side USA earlier this year, and the players are looking forward to the prospect of playing against the top ranked nation in Europe. "Iceland will also be tough opponents. We know how physically and technically strong they are, after our 1-1 draw in last August. "Iceland and Germany are preparing for the UEFA Women's Euro finals in July, and I think it says a great deal about our progression that these teams view a match against Scotland as a good test ahead of a major tournament. "We have now reached our highest ever ranking position of 12 in Europe and 21 in the world. We have shown with our recent perfromances, and wins over sides like Italy and The Netherlands, that we are getting stronger all the time and can compete with the best teams in the women's game." Scotland last faced Germany in the qualifiers for the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, which Germany went on to win. Germany recorded 4-0 and 5-0 wins in October 2005 and September 2006 on their way towards winning the World Cup the following year. It is the only two occasions on which Scotland have previously played the Germans. The last meeting with Iceland was a 1-1 draw in a Vauxhall International Challenge Match at Park, Greenock, in August 2012. Emma Mitchell was the Scotland goalscorer in what is surprisingly the solitary meeting between the two nations in recent years. Scotland have played seven friendly matches so far this year. They were defeated 4-1 and 3-1 by Olympic champions and world number one side USA in February, before heading to the annual Cyprus Women's Cup the following month. They lost their opening match against New Zealand 1-0, and followed this up with a thrilling 4-4 draw against England, a 2-1 win over Italy and a 1-0 win over Holland which earned them a fifth place finish in the competition. They defeated Wales 2-1 in their first home match of 2013 at , , thanks to goals from and Emma Mitchell. draw The draw for the Preliminary Round of the Scottish Cup was made by and , members of the Scotland squad. The preliminary round is scheduled to take place on Sunday April 21st 2013. The draw is as follows:

Seton Ladies FC v Dundee City Elgin City v FC Ladies East v Reserves Stonehaven v Whitburn Raith Rovers v FC Dunfermline 2013 v Murieston United FC Kilmarmock v Musselburgh Windsor Jeanfield Swifts v Aberdeen Development Inverness City v Kilwinning Development Hearts Development v Hamilton Caledonian Forfar Farmington Ladies v Paisley Saints East Fife Violet v Hearts Buchan Youth v Dee Vale [email protected] Emma seals Scotland win Scotland 2 (J.Ross 5, Mitchell 68) Wales 1 (Harding 12) at East End Park, Dunfermline Athletic FC Local girl Emma Mitchell sealed victory for Scotland at East End Park in their first home match of 2013. Fifer Mitchell, currently playing for SGS Essen in Germany, made it a perfect homecoming as she drew huge cheers from the Dunfermline crowd with her 68th minute winner. Jane Ross is preparing to start the season with Swedish side Vittsjö GIK, and she was Scotland's main attacking threat, grabbing the opener after just five minutes. Jenny Beattie's flick-on caught the Welsh defence off guard, and Ross latched on to the ball in the box to stroke it past Welsh goalkeeper Nicola Davies. Scotland were enjoying all of the early pressure, but it was Wales who struck next. There was a flash of danger as Helen Ward burst down the left wing, but her low cross was weak and easily held by Shannon Lynn, winning her ninth as she made her first home start in goal. A few minutes later, pounced in midfield and raced clear to lift the ball over the advancing Lynn. Wales grew in confidence after the equaliser, with captain Jessica Fishlock influential in midfield. She nipped past on the right wing to send a cross into the box. and Sarah Wiltshire both had efforts blocked by the Scotland defence before Lynn saved from Ward. A few minutes later, Lynn got down to make another save from Ward. Scotland regained their early vigour as the half came to a close. Ross wriggled free on the right wing, but Kylie Davies headed the cross clear. The striker then picked up the ball in midfield and ran at the Wales goal, but her effort hit a wall of defenders. Hayley Lauder sent in a cross from the left that fell to Mitchell, but her shot was well over the bar. Kim Little, captain in the absence of in goal, went on a driving run down the left wing. Ross couldn't connect with the cross and the ball fell to Jo Love at the edge of the box, but her shot was blocked. Ross had a golden opportunity to put Scotland ahead when she raced clear on goal, but her low angled shot just edged round the post. Wales had another opportunity through a Fishlock free kick, but the Scotland wall held firm. Scotland started the second half as they ended the first, with Ross again instrumental in their attacking play. She sent a cross in to Lauder at the edge of the box, and the shot looked goalbound, but Fishlock cleared off the line. There were claims for a penalty when Lauder sent a short corner to Little on the edge of the box. Her low shot appeared to hit the hand of Fishlock, but referee Lorraine Clark waved play on. Fay replaced Lynn in goal at half time, and was called into action when Ward pounced on a loose ball and broke free. The Celtic goalkeeper raced out of her box and made a great challenge to clear the danger. Ward had another opportunity when she took advantage of a mis-timed header by Rhonda Jones, but she blasted her shot well over the bar. Scotland continued to press for the winner. Mitchell sent a long range effort well wide before she delighted her local crowd by beating Davies with a low shot. Scotland had an opportunity to make it three when Ross went on a blistering run from deep in her own half and squared the ball to Little, but Carys Hawkins cleared the danger.

[email protected] The Combination Leagues... Northern Combination Chorley made a swift return to winning ways and have gone six points clear at the top of the table after beating Leeds City Vixens 4-3. Natalie Parry, Alyson Hastie, Scarlett Smith and Kay Unsworth were all on target for the leaders. Chorley's two nearest rivals met each other and it was South Durham & Cestria who were 2-1 winners against previously unbeaten Bradford City, thanks to goals from Beth Hepple and Jen Jennings. Sheffield Utd Community are back up into fourth place following their 2-1 victory over Wakefield. Ami Buzzeo and Christina Skull netted the goals for United. Emily Heckler had a deadly day in front of goal for Huddersfield Town, scoring all four goals as they defeated Mossley Hill 4-2 to cement themselves in the top half of the table. Liverpool Feds and Cheadle Heath Nomads came face to face in a vital clash near the foot of the table and they finished goalless, meaning that the Feds stay one point ahead of Cheadle Heath who are still in the bottom two.

Midland Combination Newly crowned Champions Stoke City are showing no signs of slowing up as their season comes to a close. On Sunday they met third placed Radcliffe Olympic and ran out 5-0 winners thanks to a four-goal haul by Laura Garside, with Jodie Foxhall adding the other. Leicester City now look to be the favourites for the runners-up position after a brace of goals from Amanda Whalley earned them a 2-0 victory away to Leamington Lions which stretches their advantage over Radcliffe to five points. Leafield Athletic's nightmare run continued as they went down to a 4-2 defeat away to Loughborough Foxes, who move out of the bottom two as a result. Vicky Brackenbury, Lauren Struszczak, Roschelle Shakes and Jodie White were all on target for the Foxes. Copsewood (Coventry) are starting to recapture their early season form once again and they leapfrogged Rotherham Utd into fifth by beating them 4-1. Nicola Foskett was on target twice along with Hannah Jones and Jodie McGuckin. Daventry Town picked up an important point from a 2-2 draw with mid-table Curzon Ashton. Cheryl Edwards netted both goals for Daventry, with Curzon replying through Nikki Daniels and Alison Hindley.

[email protected] England snatch last gasp winner England 1 (White 90) Canada 0 att: 4,875; at the , Rotherham United FC An opportunist injury time goal from Ellen White gave England their second victory over Canada in as many months and kept their Euro 2013 preparations nicely on course. The two teams had been evenly matched for most of the game but the majority of the chances had gone England's way and the bright performances of second half substitutes Jordan Nobbs, and Jess Clarke were a huge bonus from a largely disappointing match. Before the match, there was a presentation to Canadian midfielder to mark the occasion of winning her 150th cap. There was also a significant milestone for Rachel Yankey who was making her 125th appearance for England, equalling 's all-time record. England started the match brightly, winning a corner in the opening two minutes and Yankey's inswinging kick was nodded wide by , under pressure from . England's most enterprising move so far came as exchanged passes with Ellen White before sending in a dangerous low cross but no England player was on hand in the area and the danger was averted. Canada began to find more fluency in their play and after winning a corner that was half cleared, held the ball up well and threaded it wide to . She floated a cross in the area and hesitated while coming out, almost allowing Tiffany Cameron to nip in but she was crowded out by the England defence. Houghton tested Erin McLeod with a header from a Yankey corner but England were almost caught out by a long ball from Rhian Wilkinson which was latched onto by Cameron but her tamely struck effort was comfortably saved by Bardsley. White made a good run down the left and spread the play out to the right for Yankey and although the initial cross was cut out, the ball fell Aluko whose shot was saved by McLeod. Houghton then drove over from 25 yards as England tried to force the play in what had largely been a scrappy midfield battle. Canada thought they should have been awarded a penalty when Alex Scott appeared to handle in the area but the referee deemed it accidental and play was waved on. The teams continued to cancel each other out in a dull affair and the first half unsurprisingly ended goalless. After the break, a Schmidt corner to the far post picked out Sinclair whose downward header was saved by Bardsley. Schmidt then dragged a shot wide on the turn as Canada looked to step up the pace early in the second half. However the next opportunity was to go England's way, again following a set piece. Houghton fed Yankey on the left where her cross picked out on the edge of the area but the midfielder skied her shot over the bar. Jordan Nobbs almost made an instant impact with her first touch, Ellen White scores with a late diving header (Photos - Julian Barker). seconds after coming on as a substitute. [email protected] Alex Scott and Aluko combined to set up a chance from 20 yards which she drilled inches over the bar. The best chance of the game so far was to come shortly afterwards. White found Jill Scott whose pass picked out an unmarked Williams in front of goal, however McLeod was quickly off her line to make a great point blank save and White drove the rebound just wide from the edge of the area. Houghton forced a save from McLeod with a long range free kick and then a good move saw Houghton and Toni Duggan combine to release Anita Asante evades a challenge from Diane Matheson. Yankey down the left, her cross to the edge of the area picked out Nobbs who had more time than she realised and shot disappointingly wide. The substitutes had breathed fresh life into England and Duggan was next to go close with a dipping shot which landed on the roof of the net. Jess Clarke also contributed well with good persistence on the right to win the ball back from and Nobbs set up Alex Scott who fired wide. There was a scare at the other end though as Matheson executed a perfect piece of control before finding Sinclair on the edge of the area but the Canadian star's shot was charged down by Alex Scott. This was to be a rare chance for a lacklustre Canada side and the game seemed to be heading for stalemate until England came up with a late, late blow. As the game went into the second minute of injury time, good work down the left by Jill Scott ended with her finding Williams on the edge of the area. Her shot was heading wide but White dived headlong to plant a firm header past McLeod and into the corner of the net. It could even have been two moments later as Houghton unleashed a shot which fizzed inches past White before she was able to react this time. That was the last chance though and England were able to see the game out for another notable victory over one of their major world rivals.

Two goals in six second half minutes then sealed matters in England's favour, Ellie Stewart doubling their lead before captain wrapped up a great result with the third goal. Norway's qualification was at the expense of Scotland however, despite them running out 4-0 winners over Austria at Livingston. and Zoe Ness put the Scots two ahead inside the opening twenty minutes and Weir completed her double on the half hour. Heather Richards rounded off the win with the fourth goal early in the second half but sadly it wasn't quite enough for the Scots to make it three home nations in the last eight, Denmark beating Ukraine 3-0 to confirm themselves as group winners. It was also the end of the road for Northern Ireland as they went down to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Finland who go through to Wales as comfortable group winners. [email protected] Welsh Premier Women’s League There was no change at the top of the Welsh Premier Women's League on Sunday with Cardiff City FC preserving their lead of nine points by beating Llanidloes 3-1. Llanidloes did get off to a good start, taking a third minute lead through Kate Thomas, before Rachel Rowe equalised just after the half hour mark. Kelly Bourne put City in front for the first time in the opening minute of the second half and Mali Summers sewed up the points with the third goal. Cardiff Met Ladies continue the chase in second place after scoring eight without reply past Newcastle Emlyn. Emily Allen and Jaz Thomas both netted twice during the first half and after the break, Adele Hooper also weighed in with a double before Steph Turner and Hannah Billingham completed the tally with a goal apiece. Wrexham kept themselves in third place following their 3-1 victory away to Swansea City. Lyndsey Rogers scored two goals in quick succession during the opening twenty minutes and despite Sarah Adams reducing the arrears for the Swans, Syd Hinchcliffe made the points Aberystwyth Town captain Sam Gaunt safe for Wrexham midway through the second half. and Northop Hall’s Noglani Boulklgy Aberystwyth Town are starting to close in on (Photos - www.atfc.org.uk). the top half of the table after running out 4-1 winners over Northop Hall. Gemma Kay opened the scoring in the third minute with Amy Jenkins adding a second and after Noglani Boulklgy pulled one back for Northop, Kelly Thomas restored the two-goal advantage for Aber ahead of the break. Claire Thomas rounded off the scoring for the home side early in the second half to keep their good recent form. Caernarfon Town picked up another valuable point from a goalless draw with Port Talbot Town. This means that they are now three points behind local rivals Llandudno Junction but still have three games in hand.

CORNWALL LEAGUE ST AUSTELL TROPHIES LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINALS Penzance 0 Bodmin Town 10 St Breward 1 Hayle 2 [email protected] Gills retain Kent Cup Gillingham remain as holders of the Kent FA Women's Cup after a 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic Reserves at a rain soaked Sevenoaks on Wednesday. The Premier League Southern Division side trailed to a Harley Bennett goal before finding a way to overcome their Premier Reserve League Southern Division One opponents. A very even contest took place on an increasingly heavy surface. Katie Hardaker went close with a shot from the edge of the area for Charlton whilst Gills' Emma Tune set up Natalie Crinean for a shot which flew wide of Kelly Cooper's goal. A fine move created Charlton's opener. Cooper's throw out released Kylie Manktelow down the right. Her pass found Jenny Newman who set up Bennett for a half volley from 30 yards which flew past Gills' keeper Charlotte Stephens' dive on 31 minutes. It seemed that Charlton would hold the advantage at the break but a foul awarded 30 yards out allowed Danielle Carlton to fire a low free kick which Amy Taylor converted at the far post. Jade Keogh matched Bennett's spectacular opener with Gills' second on 58 minutes, cutting inside before curling a long range effort into the top corner. Charlton nearly equalised from the kick off but Stephens made an acrobatic save to deny Newman. Liz Ejupi went close with a header deflected wide from the resulting corner as Charlton pressed hard. Carlton had another free kick deflected over by the defensive wall and Gills saw out the match with reasonable comfort despite a couple of late corners. Both sides had entertained a crowd of 371 with a fully committed display in increasingly testing conditions and there was little to choose between the teams.

Ashmoor Ladies are the winners of the Devon Women's Supplementary Cup thanks to a 12 minute hat-trick by Sian Chapman In the second half, which guided them to a 5-1 win over Barnstaple Ladies in the Final at Newton Abbot. Ashmoor Ladies almost scored in the first minute when a shot by Chapman, went Just by the Barnstaple Ladles goalkeeper Natalie Hubble's right hand post, and two minutes later Hubble had to dive to her left to save an effort from Emily Hannaford. On 11 minutes a cross from the right by Ashmoor's Hannaford could only be parried by Barnstaple keeper Hubble, and as the ball bubbled on the goal-line, Player of the Match Maria Warman was first to react, to find the back of the net to give Ashmoor a 1-0 lead. Ashmoor keeper Beth Marshall was then called into action to come running out to gather a shot from Barnstaple's Rachel Short, then she cleared away from the advancing Sophie Parish, and thirdly was only able to palm away a corner from Ellie Haywood, but this was cleared. In the 19th minute Ashmoor's Natalie Warman had a shot land on the top netting, and moments later Chapman broke on the left to find Abl Breban, who squared the ball to Natalie Warman, but her shot rebounded off the Barnstaple bar. On 31 minutes Harriet Mackay broke through for Barnstaple Ladies, but she was fouled in the penalty area and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped Gemma Knight to place the spot kick out of the reach of keeper Marshall to level the score at 1-1. Ashmoor's Natalie Warman then had two chances but both were off target. At the other end a string of six passes put together by Barnstaple Ladles split the Ashmoor defence, only for Macey's shot to be saved low down by the Ashmoor keeper Marshall. On the stroke of half time, Ashmoor's Hannaford broke through, but the Barnstaple captain Sophie Russell who was having a good game, made a decisive tackle to deny the striker. Two minutes into the second half Ashmoor went 2-1 up when Natalie Warman turned a defender, and set up Marla Warman for an easy tap in, and on 50 minutes Chapman had a shot go close. On 58 minutes Ashmoor's Chapman netted her first when she broke through to shoot past keeper Hubble. Then seven minutes later Chapman ran onto a long clearance by her keeper Marshall to lob the Barnstaple keeper Hubble, and completed her hat trlck on 70 minutes again running through to beat Hubble. Ashmoor did have another couple of chances, but Barnstaple's Russell made two important challenges to stop both Hannaford and Natalie Warman from scoring. At the end of the match the cup was presented by the sponsors Aquarius of Dawlish to the triumphant Ashmoor Ladles team. Derby keep hold of Derbyshire Cup A brace from Hannah Ward helped Derby County Ladies lift the Derbyshire FA Women’s Cup for the second year running at Belper Town’s Christchurch Meadow with a 6-1 victory over Long Eaton Utd in the Final. A lively start saw both sides battle for the ball in the middle of the park, playing some creative football. Even though chances were being created from both teams, we had to wait until the 17th minute for a goal which came courtesy of Paige Crossman. Cara Newton’s near post effort was parried back at to her by Long Eaton goalkeeper Cairo Hopewell, and she laid the ball off for Ward to strike it from the edge of the box. The deflected shot fell to Crossman inside the box, who made no mistake in powering a shot past Hopewell. Derby County failed to make it 2-0 with a glorious chance that fell to Michelle Kilmartin moments later and the lead was short lived. Kim Evans bought her team level after some good work though the middle by Long Eaton. Derby County searched for the second goal when Nikki Ledgister played a great through ball for Kilmartin who raced through to face the keeper one on one, but Hopewell came out on top, making herself big and getting her body in the way of the shot. Chances came and went for Derby who weren’t able to convert those chances into goals. Another delightful through ball by Ward was played through to Kilmartin with the outside of her foot, [email protected] but her shot went narrowly wide of the left hand post. The Long Eaton United defence held strong and went in at half time against a team two leagues above them at 1-1. The second half continued where the first half left off, and Derby’s pressure finally paid off. Ward received the ball on the edge of the box and her first touch set the ball up for her to volley the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net to make it 2-1. Long Eaton pushed for another quick equaliser and a chance came from a set piece 19 yards out. Kimmie Harford beat the wall but couldn’t beat Sarah Morgan who leapt to her left to tip the ball away for a corner. Derby County Ladies extended their lead by two goals in the 70th minute when Leggister tucked the ball neatly past Hopewell, who up to this point was having a good game. Long Eaton’s hopes of a comeback were gone when three goals were conceded inside five minutes from Kilmartin, Newton and Ward respectively. London FA Girls PDC Festival Eltham College was the venue for London FA's PDC festival on 4th April. With three counties being represented and the following teams involved, Essex FA, London FA North, London FA South and Surrey FA, in total there were over 120 girls taking play on the day, with girls ranging from 9-15 years old. The PDC's offer the girls' additional training alongside their own club training and matches. They sit as part of the FA female player pathway and sit beneath the FA girls Centres of Excellence, of which there are thirty of across the country. Despite the awful weather which did include some snow and sleet, the girls were all in good spirits and displayed some fantastic football. The UEFA Women's Champions League trophy was present on the day and players and spectators had the chance to have their photograph taken with the trophy. It was great for the players to see what they could aspire to in the future as this is the prize that is at the pinnacle of female club football.
