Premièrement, je me dois d'expliquer brièvement ce qu'est le barebacking, le contexte et les raisons de son émergence, principalement en me référant à Crossley (2001, 2004) et à Rofes (1998). Le second volet est plus une analyse de la pornographie gay bareback. Je vais y présenter quelques thèmes récurrents et ce que ces derniers nous enseignent sur les motivations et le discours des barebackers. Ces thèmes sont inspirés de mes travaux sur les forums et blogues de barebackers et le résultat de longues observations et analyse de la pornographie gay. Effectivement, pour écrire cette présentation, j'ai visionné de la pornographie : ceci comprend un corpus de plus de 60 longs- ou courts-métrages pornographiques et une quantité incalculable de petits vidéos en ligne.
