This movie proves that. When All Worlds Video was bought out by Channel 1, fans were already breathlessly anticipating Miss La Rue’s return to her successful Link series (which had already spawned Link, Link II, Link III: The Final Link, and Link IV: The Missing Link). With an astounding cast of 32 performers (which includes many exclusives of the All Worlds and Ras- cal brands, like our coverboy Blake Riley), Chi Chi envisions a world where the depths of kink and fetish are limited only by your own imagination. There are so many scenes that just defy imagination: Josh Weston being hung upside down like a piece of meat in a meat locker, Steve Cruz acting like a human dog-boy, a rotating table that leads to a Lazy Susan of rimming, or Cole Ryan’s beer enema. The GLBT National Help Center is an organization which provides free and confidential tele- phone and e-mail peer counseling, information, and local resources for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning callers throughout the United States. They also work to strength- en local GLBT hotlines and organizations in their mission of service to the gay community. A visit to their website (www.glnh.org) will also reveal that they have the largest GLBT resource database in the country and information on the National Association of GLBT Hotlines. On the site you can find information on anything related to gay life, such as where to go (on- and off- line) to meet other gay people, what magazines are available in your region, help in setting up a gay business, and places that you can go to get help for a variety of gay issues (like questioning your sexuality, coming out, learning about/dealing with HIV/AIDS, preventing/fighting crys- tal meth addiction, spirituality, depression, etc.) You can also make a tax-deductible donation right on the website, or get information on how you can volunteer. If you have an organization of your own that you would like to be listed in their database, they show you how you can do that too. This organization is a great example of how we as a community can accomplish great things and help each other when we are truly organized and compassionate.

“Oh, the peasant and the soldier should be friends” expresses the in- tent behind Uprising. In this Eastern European period drama, soldiers (wearing what looks like old high school band uniforms) and peasants wage guerrilla warfare over control of the territory (or for an excuse to fuck). Mario McGabe and Gabriel Thorsten (aka Helmut Muller) are soldiers who take a detour from their unit. They take the road less traveled, tie their horses to a fence, and do it in the road. Three other soldiers, Milan Breze, Mark Zebro, and Richard Jordan, pass the time by having sex in the pasture, with Breze bottoming for Zebro and Jordan sucking and kibitzing. Wow, it’s hard to believe that we are already looking back at 2007 and looking ahead to 2008. Since we have already had fun this issue talking about some of the notables who really worked hard to make 2007 their year (like Blake Riley and Margaret Cho), I thought that I would make “The Last Word,” a serious one. This year the gay porn community was rocked by two very tragic deaths. Hot House Exclusive Kent North, who just months before had done a fantastic job co-hosting the Grabby Awards in Chicago, took his own life on the 4th of July. Even more recently, Buckshot Exclusive Danny Roddick (pic- tured above with me) has also died, at the tender age of 31. As of this writing, his cause of death has been declared as an accidental overdose of pre- scription medication. All of this got me to thinking about how gay porn stars are just as susceptible to the problems and pitfalls that affect us all as a community. First, we deal with figuring out our own sexuality. Then comes the decision whether or not to come out. Then we have to deal with the consequences of that from our families and/or co-workers. That’s just the beginning. The gay community is plagued with other issues too, all of which can not only be depressing, but difficult to survive. Yet, many of us do simply by putting one foot in front of the other and lending a helping hand to those who need it. Unfortunately, it’s just not that easy for some people, and every year we lose thousands of gays, both young and old, not just to suicide, but to HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, and even worse, hate crimes. Older gays will say that we have it so much easier now than previous generations, and while that is true and we should all be grateful for the work that was done by generations before us, there is still a LONG way to go. 2007 was personally a very difficult year for me, and all of this talk of depression hits quite close to home, but I am still here putting one foot in front of the other.
