UAE TEAM EMIRATES JOIN WORLDTOUR TEAMS TRAVELING WITH SCICON BAGS As a new season dawns, Scicon Bags is pleased to announce a new WorldTour team partnership, with UAE Team Emirates joining the growing number of teams traveling with a range of technical Scicon Bags in 2018. Formed in 2017, the team grew from strength to strength in its first season, ending the year with 19 race victories, including stage wins in both the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España, the one day WorldTour GP Montreal race, and overall victories at the Abu Dhabi Tour and the Tour of Turkey. “SCICON is an important supplier for the team, because it lets us travel with the certainty that our bicycles are protected and safe,” explained Team Manager, Carlo Saronni. “Furthermore, the design of SCICON products contribu- tes to reinforcing the quality of the team’s image”. For 2018, the team is strengthened across the board with prestigious names capable of winning the biggest of races. Current European Champion Alexander Kristoff joins the ranks, alongside Grand Tour contenders Fabio Aru and Daniel Martin. They join the likes of Diego Ulissi, former world champion Rui Costa and Darwin Atapuma. Both staff and riders will benefit from a selection of SCICON products, including custom team edition Scicon Aero- Comfort ROAD 3.0 TSA bike travel bags, Scicon Race Rain Bags and Scicon Podium Bags and Medical Bags. “The international calendar takes us on an increasing number of airplane trips, and organizing logistics is becoming more and more important. Jumbo-Visma’s Van Emden does not start. After an intense stage yesterday, the peloton rolls along together at a steady pace. Fifteen, 20, and 35 kilometres into the race, the riders seem to be holding off their attacks. After one hour of racing, the average speed is 37.500 km/h. Groupama riders are in prominent position at the front of the bunch, but the pace is steady. The situation remains unchanged 40 and 45 km into the race: the peloton is still all together. Intermediate Sprint (Umm-al-Quwain – km 51.3) Dekker claims the first intermediate sprint ahead of Milan, Cattaneo and Gallopin. The peloton returns to a steady pace immediately afterwards. Seventy kilometres into the race, the peloton is still packed, although the speed has picked up a little. Average speed after two hours of racing: 39.400 km/h. Ineos, Deceuninck, Bora and UAE rotate at the front, but the peloton is not splitting. At the -100 km marker, all is calm. We are starting to see some action, as Bidard and Le Gac clip off at km 117, immediately opening up an advantage.
