En Söndag I Helvetet 2014-04-11 14:07 CEST En söndag i helvetet 51,1 kilometer gatsten – av 257 kilometer totalt – är en modern förklaring till att Paris-Roubaix kallas "Helvetet i norr". På söndag direktsänder Eurosport den 118 år gamla vårklassikern som vanns av Magnus Bäckstedt 2004. Den historiska bakgrunden till smeknamnet "L'Enfer du Nord" har dock inte med underlaget att göra - gatstensvägar var vid förra seklet snarare regel än undantag - utan myntades av en fransk journalist som 1919 beskrev det ännu krigsärrade landskapet när Paris-Roubaix återupptogs efter fyra års uppehåll. De karaktäristiska gatstensavsnitten i Paris-Roubaix är 28 till antalet. Av dessa kommer nio även att utgöra en del av årets Tour de France, närmare bestämt under den femte etappen (Ypres - Arenberg Porte du Hainaut) som körs 9 juli. Flera av söndagens toppåkare kommer givetvis även att synas under just Tour de France, såsom Fabian Cancellara, Peter Sagan, Bradley Wiggins och Alexander Kristoff.
