This month, WNIT shines the supporter spotlight on Evie Kirkwood. Evie has served WNIT Public Television with distinction for many years. She served on the Board of Directors from 1994 to 2008 and 2011 to 2012, worked on a variety of Board committees, including executive, programming and outreach, long-range planning, personnel and chaired the 25th Anniversary team. Evie continues to host the award-winning series Outdoor Elements, produced by Kelsy Zumbrun, which received first place in the Hoosier Outdoor Writers Broadcast category in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Outdoor Elements was also awarded the 2012 Outstanding Interpretive Program award from the Great Lakes Region of the National Association of Interpretation. Professionally, Evie is director of the St. Joseph County Parks in Indiana, managing staff and operations at eight park sites and properties. She has over 25 years of experience as an interpretive naturalist and interpretive manager. Evie also serves on the board of directors for the LaSalle Council of Boys Scouts, the Women’s Business Owners of Michiana and the Board of Regents for Indiana University’s Great Lakes Park Training Institute.
