I won’t devote this installment of “Silver Squelchers” towards proving the claim I made in the text box, though we’ve seen some proof in previous Silver Squelchers editions (last time we noticed Charles Augustus Stone was a N.Y. Fed Bank director) and we’ll see more items along these lines in following Silver Squelchers editions, including Bank of England examples. For fairly extensive proof (110 page report) refer to “Who Controls The gold Stealing New York Fed Bank” presented in February 2014. This edition will be concerned with Pilgrims Society members from the leaked 1949 New York and London rosters. We mentioned members of the Grenfell family associated with the Bank of England in numbers 4 and 5 of this series. Basil Blackett of the BOE was mentioned in #3; the Cecils (not very well known outside the “right” circles) association with the BOE in #2 Silver Squelchers and others will be described as we progress. 1) Cordell Hull (1871-1955, Pilgrims 1933 and later lists), was Secretary of State

TOWARDS A THEOLOGICAL SYNTHESIS OF CHRISTIAN AND SHONA VIEWS OF DEATH AND THE DEAD: IMPLICATIONS FOR PASTORAL CARE IN THE ANGLICAN DIOCESE OF HARARE, ZIMBABWE. by WILSON T. ABSTRACT In this contextual study I investigate why and how the traditional approach to mission, engaged by Anglican missionaries, gave rise to a dual observance of ritual among Shona Anglican Christians. I begin by establishing the significance and essence of Shona views of death and the dead, then investigate the missionaries' historical background. I highlight that Christian arrogance, in the guise of racial superiority, underlies the confrontational and condemnatory approach. Traditional views were considered evil, in their place, Shona converts were forced to adopt western Christian views as the only acceptable and valid way of coping with this eschatological reality. These views did not usually fit the Shona worldviews and religious outlook, hence the adoption of dual observance.

  • Britain's Transition from Rail to Road-Based Food Distribution, 1919-1975 Thomas James Spain MA
‘Food Miles’: Britain’s Transition from Rail to Road-based Food Distribution, 1919-1975 Thomas James Spain MA Doctor of Philosophy University of York Railway Studies September 2016 Abstract Britain’s railways were essential for the development of the British economy throughout the nineteenth century; however, by 1919 their seemingly unassailable position as goods carriers was about to be eroded by the lorry. The railway strike of September 1919 had presented traders with an opportunity to observe the capabilities of road haulage, but there is no study which focuses on the process of modal shift in goods distribution from the trader’s perspective. This thesis therefore marks an important departure from the existing literature by placing goods transport into its working context. The importance of food as an everyday essential commodity adds a further dimension to the status of goods transport within Britain’s supply chain, particularly when the fragility of food products means that minimising the impact of distance, time and spoilage before consumption is vital in ensuring effective and practical logistical solutions. These are considered in a series of four case studies on specific food commodities and retail distribution, which also hypothesise that the modal shift from rail to road reflected the changing character of transport demand between 1919 and 1975. Consequently, this thesis explores the notion that the centre of governance over the supply chain transferred between food producers, manufacturers, government and chain retailer, thereby driving changes in transport technology and practice. This thesis uses archival material to provide a qualitative study into the food industry’s relationship with transport where the case studies incorporate supply chain analyses to permit an exploration of how changes in structure might have influenced the modal shift from rail to road distribution.

Lydon, Chair This thesis historically traces the development and interactions of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam in Ethiopia. This analysis of the interactions between the Abrahamic faiths is primarily concerned with identifying notable periods of social cohesion in an effort to contest mainstream narratives that often pit the three against each other. This task is undertaken by incorporating a comparative analysis of the Ethiopian Christian code, the Fetha Nagast (Law of Kings), with Islamic and Judaic legal traditions. Identifying the common threads weaved throughout the Abrahamic legal traditions demonstrates how the historical development and periods of social cohesion in Ethiopia were facilitated. ii The thesis of David Benjamin Spielman is approved. THE BUXTONS OF EASNEYE: AN EVANGELICAL VICTORIAN FAMILY AND THEIR SUCCESSORS BY R E DAVIES 2006 (Revised 2007) CONTENTS PREFACE CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION CHAPTER II: SPITALFIELDS AND LEYTONSTONE CHAPTER III: THE MOVE TO EASNEYE CHAPTER IV: THE MINISTRY OF DOING GOOD CHAPTER V: FAMILY LIFE AT EASNEYE OVER THE FIRST FORTY YEARS CHAPTER VI: THE GREAT WAR CHAPTER VII: BETWEEN THE WARS CHAPTER VIII: THE SECOND WORLD WAR CHAPTER IX: 1945 ONWARDS CHAPTER X: A NEW CHAPTER! APPENDIX 1: OWNERS AND INHABITANTS OF EASNEYE PREFACE I first came to Easneye in 1964, when I had been appointed as the Resident Tutor at All Nations Missionary College, which had just moved there from Taplow, near Maidenhead, Berkshire. I lived with my family in North Lodge, one of the cottages on the Easneye estate, for the next four years, but my connection with All Nations and Easneye has continued up to the present. I worked for thirty-four years full-time and for another seven years part-time, and now my son, who was only eighteen months old back in 1964, is a member of the All Nations faculty. I feel, therefore, that my long connection with the place gives me the interest and ability to look into and record something of the past history of Easneye and its inhabitants. Mr David Morris, the Principal of All Nations when it was at Taplow as well as for several years after the move to Easneye, and whose vision and hard work were vital in making the college what it is today, used to give a very informative and entertaining history of the site, the building, the Buxton family and the college (never dull but sometimes bordering on the over-imaginative!) When he retired, the Rev.
