We’ve learned that through the years-long effort to pass things like BasicMed, which now has well over 40,000 pilots flying under the new third-class medical certification. Well… when it comes to stability and planning for the FAA, the wait is finally over! After years of short-term extensions, the FAA has secured a $90 billion five-year FAA reauthorization bill allowing the agency to plan for future growth, so it can continue to be the world leader in aviation safety and modernization. Most importantly, however, it 1,000 nm | 260 ktas | 6 people does not include any reference for handing the air traffic control system over to the airlines. That proposal was defeated in large part because of the organized opposition by the GA community. Another positive step for GA was the recent announcement to relaunch the FAA’s $500 rebate program in support of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out equipage. This program will help fund nearly 9,800 new installations. Over the past four years, AOPA has also worked with the FAA and manufacturers through the Equip 2020 Working Group to develop lower cost solutions for pilots. The cost of equipping has dropped significantly in recent years, and coupled with the rebate, the safety enhancing technology is more accessible than ever. AOPA and others in the industry have also been working to expand the Light Sport Aircraft category. The goal is to move away from prescriptive general aviation regulations and more toward performance and risk-based measures. The expected proposal will hopefully revise regulations governing Light Sport Aircraft, expand accommodation for electric propulsion, change regulations regarding experimental aircraft manufacturing, and welcome new novel aircraft that currently do not have 1,343 nm | 213 ktas | 6 people certification standards such as hoverboards, jet-packs, and others. It’s an exciting time to be a general aviation pilot. INTRODUCTION – SUPPLEMENTAL AND OTHER COMPENSATIONS 1.1 The apocalyptic terrorist attack by the means of four hi-jacked planes committed against the World Trade Center in New York, NY , the Pentagon in Arlington, VA and the aborted flight ending in a crash in the rural area in Shankville, PA ON September 11th, 2001 is the only real time example that triggered this proposed Convention on Compensation for Damage to Third Parties from Acts of Unlawful Interference Involving Aircraft. 1.2 It is therefore important to look towards the post incident resolution of this tragedy in order to adequately and pro actively complete ONE new General Risk Convention (including compensation for ALL catastrophic damages) for the twenty first century. 2. DISCUSSION 2.1 Immediately after September 11th, 2001 – the Government and Congress met with all affected and interested parties resulting in the “Air Transportation Safety and System Stabilization Act” (Public Law 107-42-Sept. 22,2001). 2.2 This Law provided the basis for Rules and Regulations for: a) Airline Stabilization; b) Aviation Insurance; c) Tax Provisions; d) Victims Compensation; and e) Air Transportation Safety. La base de trabajo ha sido el análisis de la prensa especializada, a partir de la cual se han identificado los casos innovadores. Gracias al análisis de su origen (tecnológico, geo- político, aero-político, corporativo, de producto y en la infraestructura) y a su contextualización, hemos podido trazar la historia de la aviación comercial desde su origen en 1919 hasta nuestros días. We have identified all innovations with a structural impact on the industry through specialised press, considering the changes on technology, geopolitics, aeropolitics, business models, product and services, and infrastructure. This methodology has allowed us to write the history of the commercial aviation since its origin in 1919.
