  • Local Authority Maintained Special Schools for Secondary Education (Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4) in Cheshire East and Surrounding Areas
Local Authority Maintained Special Schools for Secondary Education (Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4) in Cheshire East and Surrounding Areas PPS gives information advice and support to parents and carers of children with special educational needs, including during the time when parents are thinking about which secondary school would be right for their child. See our leaflet ‘Moving Up?’ for more information. To be considered for a place in a special school a child would need to have a Statement of Special Educational Needs. By the end of October of Year 6, you will be asked to rank three schools in order of preference. If your child is to attend a special school, the Local Authority will normally provide transport to the nearest one that can meet your child's needs, if it is more than three miles from home, although after the age of 16 you may be asked for a contribution. You can see the school transport policies on www.cheshireeast.gov.uk Tips: You can check the Ofsted report on www.ofsted.gov.uk, click on “Inspection reports”. You may also find the http://schoolsfinder.direct.gov.uk site useful for checking distances to schools,or use Mapquest: type 'Mapquest UK Directions' into an Internet search engine, once on the Mapquest site you can enter your postcode and the post code of the school and it will give you the distance and approximate journey time. Please allow that school transport takes place when the roads are busy and vehicles may shared with other pupils who need to be collected and dropped off.

Not a few of you may be tempted to agree with him as, at the end of another busy school year and in a rather stuffy Sports Centre, you see me once again rise to deliver my annual Commemoration report. However, I hope that you will not find the proceedings too tedious:, this is an important if final occasion in the school calendar which allows us to welcome honoured visitors, to be edified by our guest of honour's words, to thank those who have done so much to make the year successful and to note the many and varied achievements of our pupils in academic and in other areas. My first duty is to tell you of the Dean's regrets in being unable this year to preside at Commemoration. However, I I am thereby provided with the opportunity of thanking you, Mr.

  • Open Letter to Gavin Williamson, Secretary of State for Education
The Rt Hon Gavin Williamson MP Secretary of State for Education Department for Education 20 Great Smith Street Westminster London, SW1P 3BT 6th July 2020 Dear Mr Williamson, This September, 800,000 young people will be leaving schools, colleges and universities, hoping to join the labour market. In addition, many young people that were due to head to university this year are considering withdrawing due to Covid-19. With 8.4 million people already furloughed and uncertain about their futures, it is likely that young people with little work experience behind them will face unprecedented struggles in the labour market. The quality of career education and guidance in schools and colleges has been improving in recent years. Nonetheless, Covid-19 and the lockdown add additional barriers to delivering career education and guidance in schools and other education settings. Meanwhile those young people who are not in education have very limited access to career guidance and career guidance services for adults are increasingly stretched. We are therefore calling on the Government to publicly commit to a Career Guidance Guarantee so that everyone aged 16-19 in an education setting, those leaving the education system, those who are already NEET, and adults who are unemployed, will have access to quality personal career guidance to help them move them on to further education destinations, employment or to additional training and apprenticeships. High quality career education and guidance, including the opportunity to speak one-to-one with a careers professional, is now more important than ever in preparing young people for the world of work, supporting adults to manage career transitions and better aligning careers aspirations with labour market demand.
