NorVIC Facilitator

We are seeking to appoint a Facilitator on behalf of the NorVIC Federation.

The NorVIC Federation consists of the following full member colleges: Franklin College, , , , Longley Park SFC, New Collaborative Learning Trust (Pontefract, Doncaster and ), Notre Dame SFC, Queen Elizabeth SFC, Scarborough SFC, Tees Valley Collaborative Trust, Thomas College, Wyke SFC and Wilberforce SFC.

The following are associate members of the NorVIC Federation: Barnsley SFC, Dixons Sixth Form Academy, , Newcastle SFC and SRC Bede SFC.

This is a permanent, part time, 15 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks) post.

The salary range for the post is points 26 – 28 of the NJC pay spine for Support Staff, currently £21,451 - £22,828 per annum, £7,298.50 - £7,767.01 pro-rata.

The successfully appointed Facilitator will be based in the full member NorVIC college nearest to their home location. Some home-working will also be considered in order to carry out the role effectively. The Facilitator will be expected to liaise closely with the Chair (and Vice Chair, as appropriate) of the NorVIC Federation, who may be based at a different college.

The NorVIC Federation exists to enable full and associate member colleges to share information, to share good practice, and to organise joint activities and events. The Facilitator role will directly support these functions.

Applicants for the Facilitator role will need to demonstrate excellent communication and administrative skills, supported by strong organisational skills and sound financial acumen.

Range 26 – 28 of the NJC pay spine for Support Staff currently £21,451 - Remuneration* £22,828 (£7,298.50 - £7,767.01 pro-rata) Permanent**, 15 hours per week, term time only, with the opportunity for some additional hours during any significant pressure points in the year, agreed in advance with the Chair.

Background

The NorVIC Federation consists of the following full member colleges: Franklin Sixth Form College, Greenhead College, Huddersfield New College, John Leggott College, Longley Park SFC, New Collaborative Learning Trust (Pontefract, Doncaster and Bradford), Notre Dame SFC, Queen Elizabeth SFC, Scarborough SFC, Tees Valley Collaborative Trust, College, Wyke SFC and Wilberforce SFC.

The following are associate members of the Norvic Federation: Barnsley SFC, Dixons Sixth Form Academy, Elliott Hudson College, Newcastle SFC and SRC Bede SFC.

The full member colleges pay a subscription fee to the Federation to support the activity of the Federation. This post is funded from these fees and therefore is dependent upon the continuation of the Federation**.

Associate members pay to participate in individual activities on a pro rata basis, for example the annual Principals’ Strategy Event.

Key focus

You are expected to contribute fully to the NorVIC Federation’s objective of enabling full member colleges to share good practice, to share information and to organise mutually beneficial activities and events, as required.

Responsibilities

In the first instance, your responsibilities are outlined below. As the needs of the Federation change, you will be expected to take on or relinquish responsibilities as directed by the Chair.

NorVIC Group Meetings 1. Maintain an accurate database of contacts in the full member colleges, as necessary, to support effective communication with the different NorVIC groups and with relevant sector bodies e.g. the Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA).

2. Coordinate the practical aspects of Federation group meetings e.g. agree meeting dates, invite delegates and book the venue and refreshments.

3. Coordinate and disseminate NorVIC group meeting agendas, attendee lists and any other required documentation.

4. Ensure that minutes of each meeting are taken by the relevant NorVIC group, and share these as appropriate.

5. Attend and take minutes at the Principals’ NorVIC group meetings, and share these as appropriate.

Collaborative Working 6. Facilitate the sharing of information between full member colleges via a NorVIC Enquiries system by disseminating requests for information, collating responses and sharing, as appropriate, with the relevant full member colleges.

Special Events Co-ordination 7. Organise Federation special events including the annual NorVIC Principals’ Strategy Day, in conjunction with the Principals’ group, and the NorVIC Learning Exchange Day, in conjunction with the Curriculum & Quality group. Ensure any sector relevant bodies are invited e.g. the Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA), as appropriate.

Budget Management 8. Request subscription fees from full member colleges, as agreed with the Chair, on an annual basis and ensure these are paid in a timely manner into the NorVIC account.

9. Keep an accurate record of the NorVIC budget and accounts and work with the Chair to ensure that the budget is managed appropriately and not exceeded.

10. Report on the deployment of the NorVIC budget annually to the Norvic Principals’ Group meeting.

Other duties

11. Work co-operatively with both full and associate NorVIC members, maintaining effective working relationships, and setting a good example through personal presentation and professional conduct.

12. Participate in appropriate in-service training opportunities and development reviews, as relevant and agreed with the Chair, to update professional practice.

13. Ensure the safe and secure handling and storage of data belonging to full members and other parties in compliance with General Data Protection Regulations.

14. Operate a flexible approach to work, as required.

15. Undertake such other duties, as reasonably required and requested by the Chair, commensurate with the level of this post.
