    T H E F UR T H E R A ND H I G H E R E DU C A T I O N A C T 1992 THE SIXTH FORM COLLEGE CORPORATIONS (MODIFICATION OF INSTRUMENTS AND ARTICLES OF GOVERNMENT) ORDER No.1 2012 The Young People’s Learning Agency for England makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 33L(3) of the Further and Higher Education Act 19921. In accordance with section 33L(4)(b) of that Act, the Young People’s Learning Agency has consulted the sixth form college corporations listed in the Schedule to this Order (“the colleges”). 1. This Order may be cited as the Sixth Form College Corporations (Modification of Instruments and Articles of Government) Order No.1 2012 and comes into force on 31st March 2012. 2. The Young People’s Learning Agency for England modifies the instrument and articles of government as set out in articles 3 and 4. Amendments to the A rticles of Government 3. After article 3(1)(a) insert— “ (aa) publishing arrangements for obtaining the views of staff and students on the determination and periodic review of the educational character and mission of the institution and the oversight of its activities;”. 4. After article 24 insert— “ Modification or replacement of the Instrument and A rticles of Government 25-(1) Subject to paragraph (2), the Corporation may by resolution of the members modify or replace its instrument and articles of government. (2) The Corporation shall not make changes to the instrument or articles of government that would result in the body ceasing to be a charity.

    Health Academy Launches throughout North Lincolnshire The Northern Lincolnshire Education Consortium held an event to launch a brand new Health Academy helping young people build careers in the health sector. The event took place at North Lindsey College on Tuesday 6th November with health and social care providers along with educational leaders pledging their support towards young people and helping them build the skills they need to progress, for long lasting careers in the health and social care sector. Aimed at 14-18 year olds, the new Academy will open initially to students from Huntcliff School, The Axholme Academy, St Bede‟s Catholic Voluntary Academy, Fredrick Gough School, North Lindsey College and John Leggott College. Students will have the opportunity to work towards qualifications in health and social care as well as build valuable work experience in the health and social care sector. Key speakers included Rebecca Buss (Cross Sector Provider Partnership), Dr Faidel Baig (North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group Chair) Wendy Fisher (Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust), Ben Lawrence (Frederick Gough School) and Ian Barkley (University Centre at North Lindsey College) and Dr Peter Reading (North Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust). Dr Reading described how Health was one of the few sectors where future employment opportunities are almost guaranteed and NLaG was delighted to support the Academy in encouraging more young people to join the sector where hundreds of different roles are available. Dr Faisel Baig described how he had studied at St Bedes before going to College in Scunthorpe before studying medicine at Manchester University.

John Leggott College is a successful (OfSTED Grade 2 ‘Good’), 16-19 Sixth Form College, located on a busy but pleasant site in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The College is just ten minutes from the M180 which is fed directly from the M18 and then the M1 – you’d be able to commute here quite easily from most of the towns and conurbations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, including Pontefract, Doncaster, Sheffield, Grimsby, Lincoln and Hull. The role will be to teach and help develop either A level Psychology, A Level Religious Studies, BTEC Psychology, Criminology and A level Sociology – all highly popular subjects with our students and a significant part of our fantastic College. The NLEC is a partnership of nine educational institutions in North Lincolnshire that have chosen to work together to improve the edu- cational outcomes for the young people of North Lincolnshire. We work together; sharing and developing outstanding practices, supporting and challenging one another to raise the educational aspirations, achievement and at- tainment of all our students. The NLEC offers an exciting programme of joint enrichment activity and interschool pro- jects, and this newspaper is one example of this. The college continues to inspire new cohorts of learners to achieve their potential and progress to a vast array of universities and world leading employers. We are a hub that attracts learners both locally, regionally and nationally. I am very proud of the achievements of the 2018/19 cohort. They not only excelled academically but got themselves involved in a huge array of activities. The college not only focuses on academic progress but provides a wide holistic experience learners can get themselves involved in over 40 additional activities. We aim to ensure learners have the skills that will support them in their future employment or progression routes.
