The needs assessment was conducted in.an effort to generate information which would be useful for planning expanded vocational education programs in the metroOblitan public schools of Nashville-Davidson County. The findings of the surveys are reported in five chapters as follows: (1) Nashville area employment needs survey for 1976,(2) entrance requirements for highest demand *occupations,(3) student and parent survey findings,(4) perceptions of curricular needs by school personnel, 'and(5) recommendations. Particularly helpful were Evaluation, The Dr. Paul Braden,Director of Research and Department of Economic andCommunity Development, State of iii 5 Tennessee, and his assistant Dr. Krishan Paul, who assisted in acquainting project staff with data sources, training inter- viewers, and making contacts with key Nashville manpower data sources. Additionally, invaluable assistance was provided by i toe Cummins and staff, Research and Evaluation Section, bepart- ent of Employment. Security, State of Tennessee, by providing data from their files and consultation regarding the Nashville labor market whenever called upon. Special appreciation is expressed also to Mrs. W. M. (Tex) (Dorothy) Ritter for assistance in identifying leaders in the music field to participate in the survey of the field's employment training needs.
