We’ve partnered with the London Contemporary Or- instruments with them that could only be possible by harnessing chestra, whose work with the likes of Radiohead and Jed Kurzel the power of modern sampling technology. (Macbeth, Assassin’s Creed) has contributed significantly to this shift, to create a string library that gives you access to this FEATURES unique palette. This library contains multi-sampled violin, viola, cello and bass sections, and has been recorded at our dry stage The library comprises recordings of 6 Violins, 4 Violas, 3 Celli in London. With a host of dynamically controllable, never-be- and 2 Basses with the Celli in octaves, all in a tight room. BACKGROUND For each articulation: A distinct collection of multi-sampled, multi-dynamic and most importantly “playable” strings recorded on our dry stage by • 2 mic positions, Close and Room the LCO. We recreated their popular “workshop” approach • 2 individual stereo mixes, Full and Pumped to playing to curate a musical, deeply versatile set of never-be- • 2 additional, printed analogue FX fore-sampled articulations - a complete set of playing styles that • Integrated reverb, matched to the room, with gives you, at long last, an ability to demo and create cutting-edge control on the GUI string writing; the kind of work that is winning hot new compos- ers plaudits across the compositional landscape. From sharply angular to sincere beauty, these up front strings are designed to make you think differently about string writing. And, by encour- aging the LCO to create the ‘impossible’ (ie by ‘d’-tuning to each note on our detuned articulations), they have embraced tech- nology to deliver us instruments you would never hear outside a sampler. This truly is a unique set of tools that will set you out and above your peers. Members of LCO became interested in working with us when we started experimenting with our Evo Grid lines. Over a peri- od of two years we met and talked about how we could make a library that was unlike any other, and it became clear to us that working with the LCO could only lead to that outcome… Winner of the Ensemble category at the Royal Philharmonic So- ciety Music Awards 2015, the London Contemporary Orchestra has established itself as one of the UK’s most innovative and re- spected ensembles – promoting the best new music and cross- arts collaborations to an increasingly wide audience. Formed in 2008 by co-Artistic Directors Robert Ames and Hugh Brunt, the LCO has collaborated with a distinguished array of composers, artists and brands, including Radiohead, Secret Cinema, Actress, Vivienne Westwood, Jonny Greenwood, members of Arcade Fire, Boiler Room, Goldfrapp, Nike, Terry Riley, Beck and Foals. Highlights include sold-out performances at the Roundhouse, Southbank Centre and Barbican; There Will Be Blood: Live; the critically-acclaimed site-responsive series Imagined Occasions; and live broadcasts on BBC Radio 3. The orchestra’s soundtrack output features The Master, Theeb, Slow West and Macbeth, and the LCO strings and choir feature prominently on Radiohead’s 2016 album A Moon Shaped Pool. If you are a total newbie to this kind of thing you can get up to speed here: http://www.spitfireaudio.com/info/basics/ First though, grab our ‘Library Manager’ app from this link: this app will enable you to download the library http://www.spitfireaudio.com/info/library-manager/ Once you’ve selected the location you can proceed with the download. NOTE THAT THE DOWNLOADER WILL CREATE A SUB FOLDER FOR YOUR LIBRARY IN THE LOCATION SE- LECTED. This is important: if you have a multi part library, or an update, it means that the Library Manager app will look INSIDE the selected location for your library folder. If its not there, it will create a new library folder. So, if you mistakenly select the actual ‘SSB library’ folder itself, when adding content or doing an When you launch the app you will be prompted to login using update, instead of the location (one folder level up) that CON- the same details you use at our site. This process takes a while so don’t panic if it looks like its frozen! TOP TIP 2: If you get in a total mess you can reset the download of either the whole library or just the latest update from the ‘Library’ menu of the app. This is limited to a couple of downloads as band- width is expensive! Please only do this if you actually need to. You’ll see an option also to Change Install Location, if you se- lected the wrong one, at any time you can hit the PAUSE button to pause the download, then select CHANGE INSTALL LOCA- Once you have selected what you wish to download on the left TION and the app will move all the downloaded files to the new pane, and clicked the ‘download’ button you will have the option location. Once it has finished - you’ll be prompted if you want to select a location. to proceed, THEN you can hit the RESUME button to continue the download in the new location. A default location will be generated but you’ll most likely want to change this. Here’s how! Click on the two little vertical arrow- heads to the right of the default location. You will be presented with the following options, and you’ll want to click ‘CHOOSE’.
