S CHOOL P ROFILE The Schilling School for Gifted Children is an independent coeducational institution founded in 1997, chartered by the Ohio Department of Education, and maintaining membership in the Ohio Association of Independent Schools. Nationally, it is one of only two schools serving gifted students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Percentage of students with IQs 130-144: 53% Percentage of students with IQs 145-200: 47%
Our faculty is comprised of gifted adults who are experienced teachers, subject specialists, and practitioners in their fields of expertise.
Both Lower School and Upper School academic programs are accelerated. All academic courses at the Upper School level are considered honors courses and many are taught at the college level. (i.e. Differential Equations, Discrete Math, Advanced Chinese, Asian Literature and History) Foreign language classes begin in kindergarten and continue through high school. Nine are offered: Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Sign, and Spanish.

SCHOOL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Approved by Homeland Security to authorize I-20’s for international students to obtain F-1 visas to study at our school.
Named in Cincinnati Magazine’s August 2007 edition as the number two best rated private high school in the tri-state area.
The only K-12 school exclusively serving gifted students in the state of Ohio.
The Schilling School has the highest average SAT score among Greater Cincinnati public and private high schools according to Cincinnati Magazine.
The Ohio Department of Education and the Canadian Department of Education requested permission to use the Schilling curriculum as a model.
The school’s fencing team has won the league championship of the Southwest Ohio High School Fencing Association for the past three years. STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
A Schilling graduate, in her sophomore year at Cal Tech, was one of only two summer fellowship recipients in charge of data retrieval and analysis for the NASA solar satellite investigation project (STEREO).
Two Schilling students have received perfect scores on the National Latin Exam.
A board game patent was awarded to a Schilling Lower School student, possibly the youngest patent holder in American history.
Five Schilling writers from grades 2, 8, 9, and 12 have been published.
Upper level science students from Schilling attended the American Association for the Advancement of Science Conference in Washington, DC, in 2000, and spent time with Stephen J. Gould, whose books had been studied in class and with whom they had corresponded.
FACULTY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Our Math/Science Department chair, who teaches Calculus, Differential Equations, Advanced Physical Mathematics, and Differential Phenomena, was nominated for a Nobel Prize in 1990. This brought him international acclaim, with his work featured in scientific books and international journals, including cover articles in Science and Naturwissenschaften. He has more than 50 scientific publications to his credit and is internationally regarded as an expert in Auger spectroscopy.
Our Environmental Science teacher, a researcher at the University of Cincinnati Medical School, has taught medical students and undergraduates and finds teaching gifted children at the Schilling School more stimulating intellectually.
Our U.S. Government and Law and Economics teacher is an attorney who comes to us from private practice.
Our Innovation and Creativity teacher was a retired professional engineer who received the highest engineering career award and taught graduate and undergraduate courses.
Our Comparative Religion teacher, prior to moving to the Greater Cincinnati area, was the denominational chaplain at Yale University.
Our Architecture teacher was the Director of the School of Architecture and Interior Design of the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati.
Our Oil Painting teacher’s painting of Emperor Tsar Alexander II Nikolaevich, Tsar of Russia, and Abraham Lincoln, sixteenth president of the United States, became a part of the permanent collection of the Tsarkoye Selo Museum, Saint Petersburg Russia in January, 2008.
Our faculty has graduated from top tier colleges and universities, including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Penn, Columbia, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Emory, Vanderbilt, Indiana University, University of Virginia, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, Brandeis, Furman, University of California San Diego, University of Illinois, and the London School of Economics & Political Science.
