3 Assessment of Environmental Impact Degree
Abstract This report contains calculations and justification of radiation impact of radioactive releases from SS Rivne NPP on the environment and the population during normal operation and in emergency cases in a transboundary context. All calculations have been performed for conservative conditions of impurity propagation and radiation dose formation (at maximum doses). It has been shown that maximum permissible values of radiation criteria for equivalent and absorbed doses in body organs and the entire body at borders with other countries, as defined by regulatory documents, are met during normal operation of power units, or in case of design basis or beyond design basis accidents. It has been justified that planned activities have no major transboundary impact, and there is no affected party in terms of the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context. In execution of para. 8, Art. 3 of Convention on Access to Public Information, posting the information on environmental impact of the planned activities in a transboundary context at common access Internet resources, e. g. on websites of the government authorities concerned - the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine - will suffice. The report contains 68 pages, including 14 figures and 27 tables. The Congress and the President were prompted to establish the Commission because of the special problem faced by Jewish sites in the region: The communities that had once cared for the properties were annihilated during the Holocaust. -

We found 14 rare plant species belonging to the Red Data Book of Ukraine in this territory (Lycopodium annotium L., Allium ursinum L., Cephalanthera longifolia (L.) Fritsch, Cephalanthera rubra (L.) Rich., Cypripedium calceolus L., Epipactis atrorubens (Hoffm.) Schult., E. helleborine (L.) Crantz, Lilium martagon L., Listera ovata (L.) R. Br., Neottia nidus-avis (L.) Rich., Platanthera bifolia (L.) Rich., P. chlorantha (Cust.) Reichenb., Galanthus nivalis L., Carex umbrosa Host) and 28 locally rare species preserved within the Volyn, Rivne and Lviv regions. The major threats for these species were indicated. Four rare associations, according to the Green Data Book of Ukraine, were studied in the Volyn Upland (Carpineto (betuli)–Quercetum (roboris) hederosum (helicis), Carpineto (betuli)–Fraxineto (excelsioris)–Quercetum (roboris) alliosum (ursini), Tilieto (cordatae)–Carpineto (betuli)–Quercetum (roboris) alliosum (ursini) and Pinetum (sylvestris) caricosum (humilis)) and their structure, main features and status were characterized in detail. The importance of further research, and the development of recommendations for the conservation and continued preservation of these forest ecosystems of the Volyn Upland was highlighted. -

The Holocaust in Ukraine: New Sources and Perspectives
THE CENTER FOR ADVANCED HOLOCAUST STUDIES of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum promotes the growth of the field of Holocaust studies, including the dissemination of scholarly output in the field. It also strives to facilitate the training of future generations of scholars specializing in the Holocaust. Under the guidance of the Academic Committee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, the Center provides a fertile atmosphere for scholarly discourse and debate through research and publication projects, conferences, fellowship and visiting scholar opportunities, and a network of cooperative programs with universities and other institutions in the United States and abroad. In furtherance of this program the Center has established a series of working and occasional papers prepared by scholars in history, political science, philosophy, religion, sociology, literature, psychology, and other disciplines. The above lines are built to the normal gauge for the country concerned. Ireland uses 1600 mm gauge; Spain and Portugal use the Iberian 1668 mm broad gauge. Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova use the Russian 1520 mm broad gauge; (Finland 1524 mm). All other countries use the European 1435 mm standard gauge.
