VISITOR GUIDE Prospective students and their families are welcome to visit the Cleveland Institute of Music throughout the year. Travel Instructions The Cleveland Institute of Music is approximately five miles directly east of downtown Cleveland, off Euclid Avenue, at the corner of East Boulevard and Hazel Drive. Follow Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive south to East 105th Street. Cross East 105th and proceed counterclockwise around the traffic circle, exiting on East Boulevard. CIM will be the third building on the left. Metered visitor parking is available on Hazel Drive. If traveling from the east on Interstate 80 or the Pennsylvania Turnpike, follow the signs on the Ohio Turnpike to Exit 187. Leave the Turnpike at Exit 187 and follow Interstate 480 West, which leads to Interstate 271 North. Get off Interstate 271 at Exit 36 (Highland Heights and Mayfield) and take Wilson Mills Road, westbound, for approximately 7.5 miles (note that Wilson Mills changes to Monticello en route). When you reach the end of Monticello at Mayfield Road, turn right onto Mayfield Road for approximately 1.5 miles. Drive two traffic lights beyond the overpass at the bottom of Mayfield Hill and into University Circle. At the intersection of Euclid Avenue, proceed straight through the traffic light and onto Ford Road, just three short blocks from the junction of East Boulevard. -

MAY 22 - 26 • A VIRTUAL EVENT DEAR FRIENDS WELCOME to Blackademics by Idris Goodwin, the final performance of Cleveland Play House’s 2020-21 Virtual Season. In the midst of this terrible time of loss, sorrow, isolation, displacement, and division, we were determined to persevere—just like our CPH predecessors did during the Great Depression and WWII—continuing our service to the community in times of crisis and refusing to “go dark.” This season we produced over 47 hours of unique theatrical digital programming that employed more than 100 artists. We experimented, widened our circle of collaborators, and kept the metaphoric lights on to illuminate stories of joy, family, and resilience, to spotlight a diverse group of artists, to reflect back the experiences of this moment, and to keep the warm glow of connection with you. Tonight’s show is a razor-sharp satire that features dynamic, funny, and very talented local actors Mariah Burks, Colleen Longshaw, and Lisa Marie Schueller. One of the challenges of producing virtual theatre remotely is that the actors, working from home, don’t have a technical crew to support them. Their acting job is hard enough without having to worry about managing lighting, cameras, and sound equipment on their own. To meet this challenge, CPH hired their loved ones, who were part of their COVID bubbles, to serve as production assistants. A big thank you to Rob Grant III, Adam Howard, and Emmanuel Jackson who played these vital “backstage” roles. Stage manager Olivia Louise Tree Plath, production assistant/script supervisor Ashley Raymer-Brown, video editor Ben Needham, composer Aaron Needham, and CPH’s Artistic Digital Programs Manager Adam Kern round out this incredible, hard-working team. -

Walter | Haverfield here’s a sense of optimism regarding commercial real estate in the City of Cleveland. Not only are Tpeople in the industry feeling it, but they can also see it in the form of more deals getting done. In 2013, credit was more readily avail- able for development and refinancing. With more cash flowing, area developers and property owners saw opportunities they had not seen in many years and were quick to act upon them – especially in the area of residential housing. High demand, combined with high occupancy rates, particularly in and around the downtown area, drove much of the development. Theater Evacuation and Emergency Situation Guidelines
THEATER EVACUATION AND EMERGENCY SITUATION GUIDELINES As volunteer STARS or RedCoats, you have a unique role in the safety of guests who attend shows at Playhouse Square. We ask that you take this role very seriously. In an emergency, our primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of guests, volunteers, performers and employees of Playhouse Square. When you are assigned to work inside a theater or any other position within the complex, it is imperative that you are familiar with your surroundings. You will often be the first person a guest encounters if they have a question or need assistance. If something doesn’t look or feel right, do not hesitate to seek out a Head Usher or House Manager to assist. Your role is to “See Something. Say Something.” If everyone raises their level of awareness about their surroundings and pays attention to the details, it will assist Playhouse Square in making our theaters a special place for everyone to enjoy. Please take time to become familiar with the following evacuation guidelines in the unlikely event that any/all of the theaters in Playhouse Square need to be evacuated. These are general guidelines to follow regardless of the location and information about evacuation routes for each theater. We have also included guidelines for active shooter response and your role if a guest is reported missing. THEATER EVACUATION Upon Arrival In The Theater: Check emergency exit doors in your area to be sure they are functional and free of obstructions. Open emergency exit doors, see what’s on the other side of the door and get your bearings. -
