Business review As a result of the requirements of the ring-fencing regulations, the Bank expects to sell its subsidiary, Scottish Widows Group Limited, to its ultimate holding company during 2017. This is only an internal reorganisation within the Lloyds Banking Group, but due to the significance of the Scottish Widows entities they have been classified as discontinued operations for the purposes of the Bank’s consolidated statutory reporting. Continuing operations During the year ended 31 December 2016, the Group recorded a profit before tax from its continuing operations of 1,977£ million compared with a profit before tax in 2015 of £1,227 million. -
