Bahria is a public sector university with the President of as the Chancellor. It is the first institute in Pakistan which is affiliated with the community service and the first institute to deploy mobile computing and wireless technology in Pakistan.

Bahria University is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities conducive to the achievement of academic excellence. One of the chief attractions is its impressive and extensive range of student support services. These services include Computer Laboratories, Hardware Laboratories, Student Resource Centers, Multimedia, Internet, E-mail, Auditorium, Presentation Hall, Cafeteria and a Library.

History:

Pakistan’s Navy had a vision to help build an educated and prosperous PAKISTAN in the 21st century. The vision was to consolidate efforts to create an education system that would be capable of providing state of the art facilities for quality education to the population of Pakistan without any prejudice of class, creed, color or domicile.

In line with this vision, the Navy established Bahria Institute at and in the late eighties. Over the years these Institutes grew in size and facilities, leading to the starting of BBA and B.Sc (CS) classes in 1995. These programs were upgraded to BBA (Hons), BCS (Hons) and MBA, MCS Programs which were introduced in Fall 1997 as 'evening programs' run under the management of two independent 'Institutes,' one each at Karachi and Islamabad respectively. The institutes are known as "Bahria Institute of Management and Computer Science" short title "BIM&CS" suffixed with the location i.e. Karachi or Islamabad.

Finally was established through the Presidential Ordinance No. V of 2000 on 7th February 2000. In few years after its establishment this University has expanded into various disciplines & departments including, Computer Sciences & , Management Sciences, Marine Sciences, Social Sciences & Medical Sciences.

Mission:

Bahria University is a multi-campus institution of higher education, which will remain committed to the attainment of highest standards in teaching, learning and research. The scholars and professionals it produces will be encouraged to pursue truth, civility and integrity. In pursuing this mission, the University has following objectives:

¾ Establish Campuses, Research Institutes, Schools and across the length and breadth of Pakistan to turn the rapidly increasing population into knowledge based force. ¾ Prepare the younger generation to become future leaders and managers for a prosperous and educated Pakistan, through development of their physical, mental, moral and professional strengths. ¾ Ensure academic excellence through quality education in disciplined and peaceful learning environments. ¾ To offer students the benefits of intellectual challenge, and to nurture skills and qualities they need for their professional careers ahead and to enable them to achieve full potential as individuals. ¾ Constantly monitor and upgrade facilities and update the curricula to keep pace with the emerging trends and technologies. ¾ Coordinate and provide facilities for exchange of knowledge and applied research in the newly emerging fields in collaboration with national and international and Research Institutions.
