If you’re looking for a chance to make an impact, PortsToronto has the following exciting opportunity awaiting you: MANAGER, INFRASTRUCTURE, PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT POSITION OVERVIEW This position is responsible for the management and technical support of strategic infrastructure initiatives as they relate to the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, the Inner and Outer Harbour including PortsToronto owned Harbour walls, and for projects related to the Port, the International Marine Terminal Building and Outer Harbour Marina. The role will also be involved in various stages of Capital projects from development, to budgeting; contractor selection; scheduling and coordinating contractors and sub-contractors; and for the timely completion of all projects undertaken. The role will develop and maintain a capital projects reporting system, develop project delivery metrics and manage the overall approved capital portfolio for PortsToronto’s various business units. All projects undertaken shall ensure that they are developed based on PortsToronto sustainability practices, implemented in a fiscally efficient manner, and with vigilance to environmental responsibilities. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Close management and accounting of large and small Capital projects related to PortsToronto business expansion or properties. Manage up to five project management staff Development and maintain a capital project reporting system, establishment of project and portfolio metrics. Prepare Capital contracts and associated documentation and drawings. Ensure tendering practices are fair, transparent as well as follow PortsToronto policies Prepare reports, statistics and analysis related to areas of responsibility. Establish project management principles and guidelines within the department and establish a consistent method for project delivery. Foster a culture of openness, transparency, teamwork and customer service within the Infrastructure, Planning and Environment team. Mentor, guide and coach project management staff on all aspects of project management and delivery, customer service, fiscal responsibility, professionalism long term planning and capital budget administration. Provide training and professional development to all team members. Provide feedback and guidance to staff for professional growth and development Liaise internal business units on the status of their projects and support project managers in the delivery of their individual projects. Coordinate activities, resources, equipment, and information between multiple contractors and relative PortsToronto department/s. Liaise with various external agencies in the development and implementation of various projects. QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education, Degree as a qualified Professional Civil or Structural Engineer; Diploma or Certificate in Project Management or equivalent. Minimum 10-15 years’ experience directly involved in the engineering and project management of complex projects or a portfolio of projects and expertise relating to port, marine and aviation operations Strong technical competencies as they relate to structural and civil engineering Experienced with contract design and administration thereof Able to handle a variety of projects and produce work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to liaise on behalf of PortsToronto with community groups and commercial stakeholders Understanding of customer service proposition and business minded approach to infrastructure review and development Effective ability to work collaboratively, receiving and recognizing multiple project inputs Superior interpersonal skills, able to interact with all levels in a professional, positive manner, able to build relationships and be a team player. Solid communication skills including presentation skills, able to speak and present information to public audiences Highly organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and complete projects. Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to change. Strong time management skills Previous Maritime, Port or Airport design engineering experience an asset Solid leadership ability managing, coaching and developing direct reports Experienced with preparing and monitoring capital operating budgets and expenditures Able to influence, collaborate and negotiate cross functionally, as well as with external stakeholders to achieve results. Strong decision making skills, including strategic and critical thinking abilities. Possess sound judgement. Effective at problem solving, negotiating resolutions and conducting root cause analysis with a goal towards continuous improvements. Excellent time and project management, organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and follow up. Advanced computer skills including Project Management and Microsoft Office products.
