Republika ng Pilipinas Kagawaran ng Edukasyon Tanggapan ng Pangalawang Kalihim OUA MEMO 00-0121-0030 12 January 2021 For: Information and Communications Technology Service- Educational Technology Unit (ICTS-EdTech) Subject: PRIORITY TASKS FOR FIRST QUARTER OF 2021 As discussed during the meeting held last 07 January 2021, the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) is reiterating the following directives to the Information and Communications Technology Service–Educational Technology Unit (ICTS-EdTech). 1. Double the Number of DepEd Commons Users With unique users currently at around 8 Million plus, ICTS-EdTech is tasked to double the figure to reach out to about 16 million learners with access to the internet. Use of the platform must be expanded to accommodate the planned improvements for this year. Innovations on materials uploaded or to be uploaded must be made interesting and attractive in the same manner that they were made in March and April 2020. 2. Capacitate All Public School Teachers on Use of Educational Platforms/Channels and Available Technologies With DepEd adopting distance and blended learning, it has become more essential that all Public School Teachers be trained in the use of various technologies, and promote DepEd’s various learning channels (DepEd TV, DepEd Commons, DepEd Learning Management System, DepEd Radio, DepEd TV Facebook, DepEd TV YouTube, DepEd Mobile App, etc.). ICTS-EdTech must conduct regular relevant and appropriate trainings for ALL public school teachers monthly. They should be equipped with appropriate knowledge and skills in using and blending all available DepEd technologies. The 400,000 plus teachers reached out by ICTS-EdTech last March-April must be expanded to cover all 900,00 plus teachers, not just in one webinar but in several continuous regular online trainings. -

Republika ng Pilipinas Kagawaran ng Edukasyon Tanggapan ng Pangalawang Kalihim AIDE MEMOIRE* 10 April 2021 THE PROPER USE OF DEPED RADIO AS A BLENDED DISTANCE LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITY I. Introduction The Department of Education (DepEd) has made use of radio-based instruction (RBI) mainly as one of the options to reach learners in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program. Primarily used as a form of distance learning to teach learners who are unable to attend face-to-face lessons or who are in remote areas, radio-based instruction enables them to continue their education despite these challenges. Through the years, radio-based instruction has reached out of school youth (OSY), persons deprived of liberty (PDL), persons with disabilities (PWD), working students, indigenous peoples (IP), farmers, and others who are unable to attend day-to-day classes. As a response to the disruption of classes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, DepEd launched the use of Blended Learning Delivery modalities. This was stipulated in DepEd Order (DO) 12, s. 2020 “Adoption of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan for School Year 2020-2021 in Light of the COVID 19 Public Health Emergency” pages 31-32. DO 12 defined learning delivery modalities and classified them as (a) face- to-face learning, (b) distance learning and (c) blended learning. Blended Learning is defined as a learning delivery that combines face-to-face with any or a mix of online distance learning (ODL), modular distance learning (MDL), and TV/Radio- based Instruction (TV/RBI). For purposes of this aide memoire, the television and radio will be discussed separately as two different platforms. -

The percentage of women film makers, in the industry, is a mere 9.1%. Despite this, the films directed by women have compelled audiences to take notice, because of the wide spectrum of issues they have touched upon. Three women directors, whose movies have left an indelible mark on the audiences, include Tanuja Chandra, Meghna Gulzar and Gauri Shinde. This paper analyses the work of these three women directors, for the uniqueness of their themes and the characters they have sketched, and attempts to find out, what has led to their films being etched deeply, into the consciousness of their audience. This will be analysed against the backdrop of the realities of the society from which these films emerge, and as a reflection of the gender dynamics existing in Indian society. The 25th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, had just concluded in Manila. There, Philippine President Fidel V Ramos called for “a common vision of regional security and enhanced economic cooperation for its own sake, for a better life for ASEAN peoples and for greater political stability”. This was the first time I was exposed to ASEAN. Since my work involved constant interaction with the EC headquarters in Brussels, I had assumed that transitioning to ASEAN was going to be easy. -
