Bath High School Preservation Newsletter Eighteenth Edition PIRATE’S REVENGE I appreciate the opportunity to once again serve as President of BHSP and to continue to be a part of this worthwhile organization. To the outgoing Board Members, Ricky Carawan, Becky Tuten and Margaret Ann Woolard, thank you for your hard work, support and continued participation. We welcome our new members to the Board, William Asa Waters, Gary Hollis and Dale Benson. Also, Ricky Carawan will continue serving on the board, completing the unexpired term for Jeannie Woolard. I am honored to serve with these Board members and the Officers, Vice President, Gerald Morris, Secretary, Claudia Alligood, Treasurer, June Lee, and Past President, Becky Tuten. In June we transferred ownership of the Northwest Wing (Office Wing) to the Historic Bath Foundation (HBF) for the purpose of a Museum to be completed by 2018. We look forward to supporting HBF in their monumental task of the restoration of the NW Wing. Thank you to everyone who has given their time, money, and tireless support as we continue to bring the original vision to fruition. There is still much to be done. It cannot be achieved without the continued support of our community and alumni. Our success depends on you! Ruth Webster Dorkin Northwest Wing Transferred to Historic Bath Foundation In June 2016 the Northwest Wing (office wing) of the old Bath High School building was transferred to the Historic Bath Foundation (HBF) for the purpose of renovating and establishing a museum. Negotiations first began in September 2010 between the boards of BHSP and HBF for Historic Bath Foundation to establish such a museum. A donation of $50,000 from HBF accompanied the agreement. A final agreement was reached in June 2016 and the property was transferred. Historic Bath Foundation has a commitment from the North Carolina Department of Natural & Cultural Resources to assist in the establishment of the museum. It will be an extension of the Historic Bath Visitors Site. President, Surry Everett shakes hand of Currently the Northwest Wing is busy with the activity of workmen, stabilizing the BHSP President, Ruth Dorkin wing and preparing for the renovations. There is excitement in seeing this activity. Our thanks go out to the Historic Bath Foundation. BHSP can now focus on the next phase of the building, namely the auditorium and getting the Gallery (Pirate Hall) up and operating. 2017 Board Meetings/Annual Membership Meeting Pirate Hall in Bath High School Building-7:00 p.m. Look inside for...
