The periodical cicada Brood X was first recorded in 1715 and has been returning once every 17 years since. It will next appear in May to June 2021 right here in southern Ohio. This presentation will explore what to expect with the return of Brood X, how Brood X’s emergences have contributed to our understanding of cicada biology, and how you can help map out the emergence.

Dr. Gene Kritsky is Professor of Biology and the ABC Evening News, CBS Evening News, the Dean of the School of Behavioral and Natural Today Show, CBS Sunday Morning, and CNN Sciences at Mount St. Joseph University. He received Science News. His work has also been featured his BA in Biology at University in 1974 and in U.S. News and World Report, USA Today, his MS and PhD in Entomology from the University Parade, People, Discover, Scientifc American, of in 1976 and 1977 respectively. Kritsky Dr. Kritsky is a native of North Dakota and has has published over 250 papers and 10 books. His been teaching at the college level for over 40 years, 2010 book, Te Quest for the Perfect Hive, was lecturing on various subjects including entomology, nominated for the Ohioana award for the best non- evolution, zoology, general biology, paleobiology, and fction book by an Ohio author in 2011, and his the history of science. He was named a Fellow of the 2015 book, Te Tears of Re: Beekeeping in Ancient American Association for the Advancement of Science Egypt, was a number 1 bestseller for both Egyptology in 1996 and elected as a Fellow of the Entomological and Beekeeping on Amazon.co.uk. His new book, Society of America in 2019. His research has Periodical : Te Brood X Edition, was attracted national attention with appearances on published in March by the Ohio Biological Survey.
