In 53 years of activity Accademia Costume & Moda has developed a strong relationship with the fashion and entertainment industry in order to design academic programmes aimed at providing an all-round educational experience with the final objective of career placement and development.

Modateca Deanna, International Centre for Fashion Documentation, gathers and promotes the identity of Knitwear Factory Miss Deanna, founded by Deanna Ferretti back in 1950, merging passion, technology and innovation. Adrien Yakimov Roberts

Coming from North Wales, UK, Adrien moved to London in the early 1980s to study at the prestigious St. Martin’s School of Art (now known as Central St. Martin’s). The illustrative element of designing was natural to Adrien therefore was delighted to take up the opportunity to study Fashion Illustration at Parson’s School of Design in New York.

Working for Paul Smith in one of his first stores, he decided to continue his studies in menswear area of fashion at the Royal College of Art of London. Adrien worked for many menswear brands, principally in Italy, before setting up his own business under his own name.

After gaining experience at teaching at different levels at some of the top fashion schools Adrien eventually took the role of Head of Design at London College of Fashion, participating in a teaching learning project with University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.

Moving up to the role of Programme Leader – Fashion Design, Enterprise & Innovation at University of the Creative Arts, UK, gave Adrien the first experience in curriculum development and validation processes. During this time Adrien was elected to the Executive Committee of Graduate Fashion Week London, still a member of the committee today Adrien has worked with alongside many UK fashion university leaders in creating an internationally renowned event. MASTER'S - CREATIVE KNITWEAR DESIGN CREATIVE - MASTER'S When offered the opportunity to move back to Italy for Istituto Marangoni, in as Group Director of Education to develop and validate courses with Manchester Metropolitan University, Adrien saw this as the chance to develop his skills further whilst returning back to Italy which he had always considered his home.

Adrien is the Director of Education of Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome since 2014, in order to implement the internationalization of the academy and support the industry through education. 8 MASTER'S DIRECTOR 9

Sonia Veroni

Grown up “breathing” fashion in the family company, she has developed since a very young age, a passion and competence linked to the creation of knitwear collections for some of the most important Italian and international designers. After having graduated and after an experience at Miss Deanna, she moves to New York from 1997 and 2002 working as Director of Creative Services for Badger & Partners, marketing, advertising and communication agency. In 2003 she returns to Italy and works as a stylist for different fashion brands and for the music industry, curating among the many projects also the music videos for famous rock star Vasco Rossi. From 2004 to 2011 she is Artistic Director for the Knitwear brand GOTHA.

Between 2008 and 2010 she is Professor for Fashion Materials at IUAV, in Venice. In 2005 she is the founder of Modateca Deanna, International Centre for Fashion Documentation, and continues promoting Made in Italy with particular interest in Knitwear Design, through the creation and realization of exhibition projects in Italy and abroad. The Knitwear Designer has to have competence linked to research and analysis, has to know the different trends, so as to interpret MASTER'S - CREATIVE KNITWEAR DESIGN CREATIVE - MASTER'S through his/her work the identity of a Maison in a contemporary and innovative manner. This Master’s course simulates the path of the industry, research of materials and tendencies, the study of new trends, designing & experimentation, technical development up to the final product and its positioning and communication. This full-time Master’s in Creative Knitwear Design is aimed at graduates, professionals who want to complete and deepen their cultural and professional knowledge and skills in the fashion industry, from design to implementation and final product.

It’s a course of intensive theoretical and practical studies, combining design, style & technique, product development as well as artistic and cultural growth.

The course aims to instil organizational skills from both a design and operational prospective, essential characteristics for a professional figure able to effectively resolve issues within productive laboratories with understanding of the creative potential and the possibilities for implementation of projects.

It is hence fundamental that the professional understands and knows the limits and potential between the creative and production process. The Master’s in Creative Knitwear Design will provide students with the conceptual knowledge base and tools necessary to understand new trends in fashion, developing new products, positioning them properly within the knitwear market and moreover experiment and understand the production potential, both at industrial and artisanal level.

Laboratories equipped with manual and electronic sewing machines; seminars with industry experts; workshops and individual projects together with many industry projects… makes this unique Master’s course fascinating, absorbing and concrete. This Master’s course is aimed at those who have successfully completed a recognised first degree (typically BA equivalent to Level 6 of EQF-European Qualifications Framework), in a subject area relevant to this course, and wish to study with the aim to seriously focus on a career in creative knitwear design:

-- Students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in a design discipline or a subject area linked to the Master’s Course: YES;

-- Humanistic and Liberal Arts degree students who have successfully completed an undergraduate course not linked to the specialist area of the Master’s: YES, but the Course Council will evaluate the single application to understand the suitability and level of preparation of the candidate.

-- Industry Professionals of the sector and students who have not completed a recognised undergraduate degree, but have completed private courses within the subject area of the Master’s course: YES, but will not receive a recognised Master’s degree, but rather a certificate of participation.

Due to demand and the limited number of places available (to maintain the quality and high level of study), the successful completion of an admission assessment, based on an interview and presentation of a Fashion Portfolio, are required in order to gain access to the course. During Pitti Immagine Filati 81, a fashion show at the Fortezza da Basso - in the Sala della Ronda – gave voice to the personal and Industry Projects by the students of the First Level Master’s Degree course in “Creative Knitwear Design” (A.A 2016/2017).

The show-event has been promoted and organized by the Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery together with the Accademia Costume & Moda and Modateca Deanna, in collaboration with The Woolmark Company, Max Mara and Avant Toi to light up the new knitwear talents whilst maximizing their expertise and originality. An effective instrument of dialogue between the top sector businesses present at the fair, the buyers and representatives of the style offices of the most prestigious Maisons, the press and young international creatives.

The Master’s Degree students in Creative Knitwear Design also had the possibility to create Merino wool knitwear outfits with the support of Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia, drawing inspiration from five of the seven themes of The Wool Lab Fall/ Winter 2018/19 - the best selection of wool fabrics and yarns on the market realized by The Woolmark Company. This capsule collections have been showcased during the fashion show and exhibited in a display inside the Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia stand during Pitti Filati.
