Department: The Balcon

Responsible to: Head Waitress /

Responsible for: Commis Waiting Staff

Liaison with: Head Waiters / Sommeliers, Kitchen and Stewarding Department

Job Objectives : Multi-skilled is vital in today’s Catering Industry, so you will have many opportunities to work within other Departments of the Hotel i.e. Bar, Banqueting or even, Room Service. orders are taken by Head Waiters / , Cheese and dessert are taken by yourself as well as the handling of the bills. Ensure that you have a complete knowledge of food and beverage served in The Balcon. Be well versed in the use of Micros system, operational procedures and standards of service.

Ensure attentive service, customer comfort at all times. Attend, as required, meetings and training sessions. Serve to standard as set by The Balcon SOP Manual.

Communicate any and all customer complaints as soon as possible to Head Waiters / Sommeliers.

Relation with guests is the essence in this The Balcon concept linked to a maximum flexibility in all aspects.

Main Duties : • Provide friendly, professional helpful and courteous service to the customer at all times. To be part of a philosophy of excellence and to ensure that becomes the most important service period and guest satisfaction and recognition become second to none.

• Take responsibility for the presentation and the smooth running of your station with attention paid to clearing and relaying of tables.

• To recognise to the needs and comfort of the customer throughout service and do not forget that we are a ; our main focus is customer relation and satisfaction. As well everyone is a Sales person so lead by example.

• To ensure that all you are present for briefings carried out before each service period.

• To ensure complete & thorough knowledge of the food & beverage items for The Balcon

• To maintain the highest standard of cleanliness, presentations of furnishings, and the proper set up of The Restaurant, report any necessary repairs to Head Waiters / Sommeliers.

• Ensure all guest checks for your station, are correctly posted at the end of each meal period and so that you are fully aware of the Micros system, posting and billing system.

• To be flexible and carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capacity as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments as required, to meet the demands of business and customer service needs.

• To ensure you are performing duties correctly, efficiently and to the best of your ability.

• To attend meetings, as required, on points of service training, food and beverage training, Health and safety, and promotions. To pass on any relevant information to your team and ensure they are fully aware of the relevant points discussed.

• Present yourself at the beginning of each shift punctually, properly dressed in the correct uniform, and maintaining the highest standard of personal hygiene.

• To ensure you have a thorough understanding of and adheres to laws and regulations regarding licensing, food safety, health & safety & fire regulations.

Health and Safety • Ensure that all potential and real Hazards are reported immediately and rectified • Be fully conversant with all departmental Fire, Emergency and Bomb procedures • Ensure that all emergency procedures are rehearsed, implemented and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees • Ensure the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises by fairly applying Hotel Regulations by strict adherence to existing laws, statutes etc. • Ensure all staff within the department work in a manner which is safe and unlikely to give risk of harm or injury to selves or others

General Duties

• Hotel fire procedures • Hotel and Company Security procedures • Hotel Health and Safety policy and procedures • Hotel Facilities and attractions • Hotel standards of operation and departmental procedures • Keys of Luxury and company repositioning • Methods of accepted payment of the company • Short and long term company marketing promotions
