Genesis 6: 9-22 These are the generations of . Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God. And Noah had three sons, , , and . Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence. And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh,[a] for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks. For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you. And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. Of the birds according to their kinds, and of the animals according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground, according to its kind, two of every sort shall come in to you to keep them alive. Also take with you every sort of food that is eaten, and store it up. It shall serve as food for you and for them.” Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him. Let’s review

Verse 8: But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Today is going to be all about comparisons Comparison between blameless and violence The Broadcast continues with …

• The Lord comparing Noah who was called blameless to the World whom God called violent.

BLAMELESS VS. VIOLENT VIOLENT: malicious, having the original intent to destroy something cruelly BLAMELESS: tamiym= entire integrity, truth, full integrity, complete in and of itself BLAMELSS VS. VIOLENCE Blameless: 1. The word blameless in the Hebrew (OT) is always linked to something else. (the term can not be separated from being in relationship with something else) 2. The word Blameless in the Hebrew (OT) is also always linked to God in some manor. 3. God’s ways create blamelessness. (God’s way, God’s knowledge, God’s Salvation (Jesus), God’s Spirit) BLAMELSS VS. VIOLENCE VIOLENCE: 1. Violence (chamas) refers to the antagonist/ antichrist. That which is contrary to the blamelessness that comes through Christ work. 2. Violence always refers to some type of damage that always includes another entity. 3. Violence leads to separation from God’s way, God’s knowledge, God’s Salvation (Jesus), God’s Spirit. The Broadcast continues with vs. 12

vs. 12 “And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.” In the Hebrew this verse Broadcast “God’s decision to end all flesh” FLESH vs. SPIRIT FLESH: 1. Bawsawr- flesh from its freshness. (the pudenda of man). All of the body excluding the skeletal parts. 2. ALL Flesh was going to be destroyed, which in the Hebrew meant all land bearing creatures. 3. The flesh (basar) of the world was lumped together and was all evil. FLESH vs. SPIRIT SPIRIT: 1. The Spirit was not destroyed. God spoke only of the fleshly part of all of the living creatures including mankind. Including all the other creatures such as the Nephilim. 2. Evil did not die in the flood. The same Spirits of evil from days of old that roamed earth in a form, their spirit continues to roam the earth. 3. They are no longer afforded the privilege of residing in their own flesh. They have to seek flesh to consume. This is where we see the continuation of the enemies plan. We discover that the enemies spirit was not dealt with. FLESH vs. SPIRIT 1. The battle of the flesh continues to be at the center of mankind’s struggle. 2. The enemy originally used the pleasures of the flesh to separate us from God. 3. The Spirit (our soul) remains in a battle to be victorious over sin. 4. The flesh continues to be destroyed in each person. God Broadcasted what… •He would do with the flesh. •That Flesh would not permanently ever house the Spirit of God in that way again. (until Jesus) •That through the flood He was going to remove all the flesh that does not use the gift of breath to glorify Him. •Noah was blameless and was used. vs. 22

“Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him” OBEDIENCE VS. REBELLION Obedience “he DID” 1. DID; asah: A primitive root that sticks close to God’s spoken and written words. To accomplish, achieve, complete, commit, charge, cause, earn, etc…

2. God spoke strong works that show us that God found that Noah accomplished His task for the LORD. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

3. Noah finished and gained at the same time. OBEDIENCE VS. REBELLION REBELLION 1. Breads disunity, keeps us complacent, and causes the wrongdoer to yield a harvest.

2. Unites humankind with the fate of all flesh.

3. Rebellion at its root starts within us personally.

4. Rebellion from the truth of God leads humankind to complete disunity. Our soul within disconnects from the Spirit of God and results in our core being corrupt, which bleeds into our flesh. Where are you today?

• Are you in a battle with the flesh? • Are you in a battle with rebellion (so it hasn’t hit the flesh) • Are you celebrating because you DID as you were commanded? “NOAH DID” We can do. We can be obedient. We can survive the battle between the flesh and the survival of our soul. You may be thriving today. So let us celebrate.
