TELL ME ABOUT THIS PROGRAM DEBRECEN, HUNGARY: The began its role of higher education in the 16th Century and is known for its outstanding research centres and commitment to higher learning. The University is home to fifteen faculties and a student population of 30,000. Located in the second largest city in Hungary, The University of Debrecen is best known for its Agricultural, Arts and Humanities and Medical departments that can be found at various campuses throughout the city. Bordered by seven countries, Hungary is often referred to as “The Gateway to Europe.” Just a few hours from , Debrecen is a great starting point for many travel destinations. Students will experience the richness of Hungarian culture and cuisine, which is unlike any other in the region. Students can enjoy wandering through the forests surrounding the campus, or relaxing in the natural hot spring baths while on a break from class. The university’s main campus is a 10 minute ride or 30 minute walk from the downtown area with its cozy cafes, blend of architectural styles, and lively night life.

WHEN CAN I GO? Academic Year 2015-2016: September – June Fall 2015: September - January Winter 2016: February - June

WHERE WILL I LIVE? Students are housed on campus in two- or three-person suites in one of 15 residence halls. Each suite has individual accommodations, shared kitchens and common areas. Residence halls also have laundry facilities, a gym, sauna facilities, and internet access.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE? Students must have completed at least one year of university coursework and maintained a GPA of 2.5. Students attending Debrecen should be relatively mature, independent and open to a full immersion in a Hungarian University.

FINANCIAL AID Students typically pay for study abroad through a combination of financial aid, personal funds, scholarships/grants and alternative loans. GRANTS PARTNERSHIP GRANT: Average of $500. The Padnos International Center will be providing (2) $500 Partnership Grants for the 2012-2013 academic year. If more than two students apply for the program, decisions on awards will be made based on the strength of a student’s application, and financial need. Students may be eligible for more than $500, but two applicants will receive a minimum of $500 in grant support. Decisions on awards will be made after the application deadline. STUDY ABROAD SEMESTER GRANT: The average study abroad semester grant award is $500 per semester. Students who complete an online study abroad application by the designated priority deadline, have a 2.8 GPA and a FAFSA on file, may be eligible for a study abroad grant ranging from $500-$2,500/semester.
