we ran across some material on United States Navy Medal of Honor recipient Lieutenant Commander Bruce McCandless. He received

the Medal of Honor during World War II for his heroism on board the USS San Francisco (CA- 38) during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, November 13, 1942. He retired with the rank of

Rear Admiral. In 1971, the USS McCandless, a frigate (FF-1084), was named in honor of Rear
