January During Bliain na Gaeilge 2018 we will celebrate the Irish language through action on five themes: the revival of the language over the last 125 years; the creativity of the language; the vibrancy of the language; the participation of the community; and the value of our Gaeltachts. We will celebrate and discuss the importance of the Irish language revival and the Revival influence of the revival on communities and on historical events over the last 125 years. How about organising an event in your own community in 2018? We have organised a calendar of creative, artistic and community events around the world in 2018. Further events will be added to the programme during the year, and some key Creativity projects will continue after 2018. We will celebrate the vibrancy of the language and increase the usage, positive image, Vibrancy visibility, shared ownership and normalisation of the Irish language in the community.     Na Fianna Nuacht Inter Ladies – Champions! Wednesday 22nd August 2018 Junior C Championship Final will be remembered by the Na Fianna Ladies Inter team for all the right reasons. In what was described before the final by the DLGFA as “Expect a Cracker” certainly lived up to everybody’s expectations. A panel of 29 consisting of adult, minor and U16 players started preparation for Championship back in June. Right from the first training session we spoke about “giving this a real go” and the plan of playing a total of 6 matches to become Junior C Champions. That we did. Championship consisted of 2 groups of 5 teams with the top 2 from each group contesting the semi-finals. 1 of 6. We were away to Clontarf B. Great game played on probably one of the best surfaces in Dublin – St Anne’s pitch 35. We won 3-9 to 1-2. 2 of 6. We’re away again this time to St Brendan’s in Longmeadow’s. Little did we know then that we would be meeting them in the final a month later! A very difficult game with both sides very evenly matched. We won 3-10 to 2-9 3 of 6. Our first home game, Crumlin on back pitch. Game was played with great pace from our girls and we put up a strong score. We won 5-11 to 1-7. Na Fianna Nuacht 25ú Lúnasa 2018 1 Na Fianna Nuacht 4 of 6. Our second home fixture v Naomh Olaf this time on the best pitch in Dublin – front pitch Mobhi Rd.

Board of Directors 26 7. Staff 28 2 1. Introduction 2017 has been another very successful year for Fingal Leader Partnership. The Dublin Rural LEADR programme got off to a very strong start with project targets being met and, in some cases, exceeded. The Tús Programe has seen the successful placement of over 200 participants with over 130 participating non-profit organisations, assisting them to deliver much needed services for our local communities. The Care and Repair and the new Computer Home Support services operated under the Tús programme continues to go from strength to strength. The Jobs Club ensured that over half of all clients during the year either successfully regained employment or went on to further education. 2017 also saw the very successful move to our new offices and the integration of services into our new premises at DSV House in Swords Business Park. In February 2017 we appointed our new CEO, Dr. Chris O’Malley who, over the past year, has been successfully planning, formulating and managing the change process within the company. On behalf of the board I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his guidance, direction, hard work and commitment to the company since his appointment. I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our Deputy CEO, Phil Moore, for her hard work and dedication to the company over the past number of years.

    FÓRAM CHOIS FHARRAIGE UM PHLEANÁIL TEANGA SAMHAIN 2016 Cois Fharraige (Ros a’ Mhíl, An Tulach, Na Minna, An Cnoc, An Spidéal, Na Forbacha) Language Planning Forum Summary And Recommendations Language Plan 2017– 2023 0 FÓRAM CHOIS FHARRAIGE UM PHLEANÁIL TEANGA SAMHAIN 2016 1. Introduction Under the Gaeltacht Act 2012 the Gaeltacht was divided into 26 Language Planning Areas. Each area was given two years to prepare a Language Plan and the plan is to be implemented over a period of seven years. After some dicussion it was decided to form a body called Fóram Chois Fharraige um Phleanáil Teanga (Cois Fharraige Language Planning Forum). This body is representative of many voluntary community-based organisations operating in the five school areas of Na Forbacha, An Spidéal, An Cnoc, An Tulach and Ros a’ Mhíl. Údarás na Gaeltachta awarded the contract for the preparation of a language plan to the Forum, a contract was signed and funding was provided to prepare a plan. Work commenced in 2014. The challenges posed to the use of Irish as our community language vary greatly from area to area with the use of Irish weaker to the east of the Language Planning Area and stronger in the west. The use of Irish was mapped in a recent (2007 and updated in 2015) comprehensive sociolinguistic survey. The survey reports on the use of Irish in the five electoral divisions, which roughly reflect the five school areas. The three divisions west of An Spidéal are Category A (relatively strong Gaeltacht areas); An Spidéal is Category B (the use of Irish as a community language is under threat); and Na Forbacha is Category C (English is predominantly, but not solely, the language of the community).
