Call for Participants: 2017 AEARU Workshop on R&D Policy and Asian

2017 AEARU Workshop on R&D Policy and Asian Research University will be held at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Tokyo Tech graduate students who would like to participate are invited to submit applications. The workshop will focus on “Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth in the Era of Global Inequality”. For more details, please refer to page 2-3.

Dates: Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4, 2017

Eligibility: Tokyo Tech graduate students

Application Method for the Poster Presentations: ① Filled out the Application Form and directly email it to sciencepolicy@.ac.kr by September 25, 2017. When sending your submission by email, please send a carbon-copy of the email to Tokyo Tech’s International Cooperation Division [email protected] as well.

②Student participants are required to obtain permission for application from their supervisors.

Notification of Acceptance: Those selected to attend the workshop will be notified at the end of September.

Fees: Most costs including the airfare, local accommodation and transportation will be covered by the host university. Participants are responsible for insurance and other expenses.

2017 AEARU Workshop on R&D Policy and Asian Research Universities Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth in the Era of Global Inequality Organized by the Graduate School of Science and Technology Policy, KAIST November 3rd (Fri) ~ 4th (Sat), 2017

Rationale Asia, home to the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies, has also seen the steepest rise in inequality over the last two decades. With the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) projected to bring not only benefits but socioeconomic risks (including job replacement and human alienation due to automation technologies such as and ), Asia can take full advantage of 4IR opportunities only with the inclusive growth approach. This workshop will provide a great opportunity for faculty and students of Asian research universities to discuss how to promote responsible innovation in order to assure the benefits of research and development (R&D) to be spread over the whole society.
