BUFFALO BILLS Summer Minority Fellowship/Wide Receivers Assistant 2000-2005 BRODERICK FOBBS enters his sixth season as head football coach at Grambling State University with a wealth of experience as a coach and understands the demands the student-athletes have on and off the field.

In 2018, Fobbs led the Tigers to a 6-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Grambling State had four players named to the All-SWAC teams, including De’Ari- us Christmas, who earned the SWAC’s Defensive Player of the Year honor for the second consecutive season. Christmas also earned school and national recognition as he was one of 14 finalists for the MCNEESE STATE William V. Campbell National Football Foundation Academic Award. Co-Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers 2007-2011 In addition, the Tigers defense ranked tops in the conference in six catego- ries, including blocked kicks (which led the nation), defensive touchdowns, fumbles recovered, passes intercepted, turnovers gained and turnover margin.

In 2017, Fobbs led Grambling State to an overall record of 11-2, ending the season in the Celebration Bowl with a loss to North Car- SOUTHERN MISS olina A&T State. The Tigers repeated as SWAC Champions, beating Wide Receivers Alcorn State, 40-32, and enjoyed Classic wins over Clark Atlanta (31- 20), Prairie View A&M (34-21) and rival Southern (30-21). The four-time SWAC Coach of the Year led the Tigers to a final ranking of 14th in the FCS Coaches Poll and 16th in the STATS FCS Top 25 Poll.

In 2016, Fobbs led the Tigers to an overall record of 11-1, ending the season as SWAC Champions, Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl Cham- MCNEESE STATE pions and HBCU National Champions. After repeating as SWAC West- Tight Ends ern Division champions, winning the 2016 SWAC championship game and 2013 defeating North Carolina Central University 10-9 in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, the Tigers are out to remain on top teams in all of FCS football.

Following a narrow 10-point loss (31-21) to FBS opponent Arizona, Grambling finished the 2016 season on an 11-game winning streak, earn- ing the program’s 25th SWAC title (the first since 2011) and 15th HBCU Foot- GRAMBLING STATE ball National title - its first since 2008. BY UNIFORMS The success continued into Fobbs’ second year at Grambling. In only his second season, Fobbs guided the team White Jersey (White Pants) 3-7 to an undefeated regular season conference record (9-0) – the first undefeated regular-season record by a SWAC White Jersey (Black Pants) 11-2 school since Grambling finished 7-0 in 2008 – and a western division championship. The Tigers’ season ended in White Jersey (Gold Pants) 6-2 Black Jersey (White Pants) 1-0 defeat in the Toyota SWAC Football Championship Game to Alcorn State. Black Jersey (Black Pants) 7-3 Black Jersey (Gold Pants) 2-0 Grambling finished the season ranked 24th in the final FCS STATS poll and quarterback Johnathan Williams Black Jersey (Red Pants) 1-0 Gold Jersey (White Pants) 1-0 was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Year – the first offensive player of the year award from a Grambling Gold Jersey (Black Pants) 3-0 player since Frank Warren in 2010. That season Fobbs was named 2015 SWAC Coach of the Year and BOXTOROW Gold Jersey (Gold Pants) 2-0 Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the STATS FCS Coach of the Year. Grey Jersey (Grey Pants) 4-0 Red Jersey (White Pants) 0-1 After a one-year stint serving as the wide receivers coach with Southern Mississippi in 2012, Fobbs returned Red Jersey (Red Pants) 1-0 to McNeese State University for the 2013 for a sixth overall season as a member of the McNeese coaching staff BY DAY OF THE WEEK as the tight ends coach. That season, McNeese defeated FBS opponent University of South Florida 53-21. After a Thursday 1-0 10-2 regular season, McNeese made yet another FCS playoff appearance. Saturday 44-16

Prior to that, Fobbs served as co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach with McNeese from 2007- BY TIME OF DAY 12 p.m. 1-1 2011. During that time, he mentored players Quinten Lawrence, who was drafted and played for the Kansas 1 p.m. 2-0 City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, and Steven Whitehead, an all-conference receiver. McNeese was a dominant 1:30 p.m. 0-1 Southland Conference opponent during these years as it boasted an undefeated regular season record of 11-0 2 p.m. 14-2 in 2007 and FCS playoff appearances in 2007 and 2009. McNeese was also Southland Conference Champions in 2:30 p.m. 2-0 2:45 p.m. 1-0 those two years. 3 p.m. 2-1 3:30 p.m. 1-0 Fobbs had a successful stay as an assistant coach at Northwestern State from 2002-2006, where he mentored 4 p.m. 8-4 and recruited two of the most productive receivers in Northwestern State history, Derrick Doyle and Toby Zeigler, 5:30 p.m. 1-0 6 p.m. 13-3 who ranked first and second at the school in receptions, respectively. The Demons won a share of the 2004 6:30 p.m. 1-0 Southland Conference Championship with an overall regular season record of 8-4 and a berth to the FCS Playoffs. 7 p.m. 0-3 7:45 p.m. 0-1 During his stay at NSU, Fobbs completed an NFL Minority Internship with the Buffalo Bills in 2005 and also BY MONTH OF THE YEAR coached the Arena League II Lafayette, La., franchise. He also worked as an offensive graduate assistant at the August 0-1 University of Louisiana-Lafayette during the 2000-01 season. September 13-9 Under legendary Grambling head football coach Eddie Robinson, Fobbs was an honor roll student and served October 15-1 as a two-time team captain for the Tigers. Grambling won the 1992 HBCU National Championship defeating Flor- November 14-3 December 3-2 ida A&M 45-15 in the Heritage Bowl. Grambling also were co-champions of the SWAC in 1994. He led the SWAC in yards per carry averaging 7.1 one season. He gained more than 1,000 yards during his career. BY STATE Alabama 5-0 Fobbs was a standout, multisport student-athlete at Carroll High School in Monroe, La. There, he was a team Arkansas 2-0 Arizona 0-1 captain and earned all-state honors in football in 1990 and 1991 and all-region in baseball in 1990. Fobbs was California 0-1 also a state qualifier in the open 200m dash in 1991. He played in the state baseball and football all-star games Florida 0-1 before earning a scholarship to Grambling State University as a running back. NATCHITOCHES, La. | Shelton Eppler threw four touchdown passes, including three in the first quarter, as the Northwestern State University football team jumped out to a big lead and did not look back in a 34-7 victory over Grambling State on Saturday night at Turpin Stadium. Eppler threw touchdown passes of 20 yards (Jaylen Watson), 13 yards (Jazz Ferguson), 12 yards (Da’Von Smith) and 10 yards (Levar Gumms) in helping the Demons snap a three-game losing streak to Grambling State. Northwestern State (1-1) took the opening kickoff and marched 73 yards in seven plays as Shelton Eppler connected with Jaylen Watson on a 20-yard touchdown pass in the right corner of the endzone to give the Demons an early 7-0 lead with 12:33 left in the first quarter. Grambling State (0-2) was able to move the football on its first drive, but was forced to punt the ball. The Demons cashed that punt into their second consecutive scoring drive. Northwestern State used just 2:34 off the clock and went 65 yards in seven plays with Eppler tossing his second touchdown pass, a 13-yarder, to Jazz Ferguson, to extend the Demons advantage to 14-0 with 6:57 remaining in the opening frame. Robinson Memorial Stadium. The Tigers (4-4 overall, 3-2 SWAC) trailed 38-35 with 4:05 remaining, but Hickbottom led the Tigers down the field with an 11-play, 72-yard drive as Marc Orozco, who became the GSU and SWAC all-time career leader in points scored in the second quarter, booted a 20-yard field goal with 46 seconds left in regulation, tying the game at 38. The Golden Lions (1-7, 0-4) had a chance to drive for the potential winning score in the final 40 seconds, but could not get past their own 40 as time expired. NEW ORLEANS, La. | Two long pass plays in the third quarter proved to be the difference as the Grambling State University football team nearly rallied from an 18-point deficit as the Tigers saw its season come to an end with a 38-28 loss to rival Southern during the 45th Annual Bayou Classic in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. With the victory, Southern earns the SWAC West Division Championship and will meet Alcorn State on Saturday in the 2018 SWAC Football Championship Game in Lorman, Miss. The Tigers (6-5 overall, 4-3 SWAC) went three-and-out on their first offensive possession. On the ensuing punt, Garrett Urban’s kick was blocked by Kordell Caldwell and recovered in the endzone to give the Jaguars a quick 7-0 lead with 13:04 remaining in the opening quarter. Grambling State was forced to punt on its next possession as Southern marched down the field. The Jaguars’ drive ended when Joseph McWilliams blocked a 42-yard Martell Fontenot field goal attempt to keep the Southern advantage at 7-0. The Tigers were backed up to their 5-yard line to start their third offensive series.
