ACCOLADES (Player) Following a narrow 10-point loss (31-21) to FBS opponent Arizona, Grambling finished the 2016 1992 HBCU National Champion 1993 Heritage Bowl Champion season on an 11-game winning streak, earning the program’s 25th SWAC title (the first since 2011) 1994 SWAC Co-Champions and 15th HBCU Football National title - its first since 2008. The Tigers finished the 2016 season ranked 15th in the final FCS Coaches Poll and 16th in the final FCS STATS poll. ALL-TIME OPPONENTS BOXTOROW Co-Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the FCS Eddie Robinson Award. Alabama A&M University 3-0 Alabama State University 3-1 Fobbs was named head coach at Grambling on December 4, 2013. Being a first-time head coach Alcorn State University 6-1 Arkansas-Pine Bluff, University of 4-0 of a historic football program presented monumental challenges, but Fobbs, his staff and the team Arizona, University of 0-1 embraced the challenges head on in the 2014 season. SWAC Championship 2-1 Grambling finished the season ranked 24th in the final FCS STATS poll and quarterback Johnathan Texas State Fair Classic 4-0 Williams was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Year – the first offensive player of the year All-TIME RECORD Home 13-2 award from a Grambling player since Frank Warren in 2010. That season Fobbs was named 2015 Away 16-6 Neutral 9-3 SWAC Coach of the Year and BOXTOROW Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the STATS FCS Coach Overall Record 37-10 of the Year. SWAC Record 31-2 After a one-year stint serving as the wide receivers coach with Southern Mississippi in 2012, BY UNIFORMS White Jersey (White Pants) 3-6 Fobbs returned to McNeese State University for the 2013 for a sixth overall season as a member of White Jersey (Black Pants) 11-1 the McNeese coaching staff as the tight ends coach. After a 10-2 regular season, McNeese made yet another FCS Black Jersey (White Pants) 1-0 Black Jersey (Black Pants) 6-2 playoff appearance. Black Jersey (Gold Pants) 1-0 Prior to that, Fobbs served as co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach with McNeese Black Jersey (Red Pants) 1-0 Gold Jersey (White Pants) 1-0 from 2007-2011. During that time, he mentored players Quinten Lawrence, who was drafted and Gold Jersey (Black Pants) 2-0 Gold Jersey (Gold Pants) 2-0 played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, and Steven Whitehead, an all-conference Grey Jersey (Grey Pants) 4-0 receiver. McNeese was a dominant Southland Conference opponent during these years as it boasted an undefeated regular season record of 11-0 in 2007 and FCS playoff appearances in 2007 and BY DAY OF THE WEEK 2009. McNeese was also Southland Conference Champions in those two years.
