  • Question on Notice No. G1 Asked on 2 October 2012
Question on Notice No. G1 Asked on 2 October 2012 The Education and Innovation Committee asked the Minister for Education, Training and Employment (Mr Langbroek) – QUESTION: I refer to page 5 of the Service Delivery Statement and note the commitment to invest $10 million to fund 500 university scholarships. Can the Minister please advise how this will assist women to enter career pathways that have otherwise been male dominated? ANSWER: I thank the Committee for the question. The Supporting Women Scholarships program is a $10m Queensland Government initiative providing scholarships for women of all ages considering a future in agricultural science, architecture, building services, engineering, geology, or information technology. Scholarships are available for study at the certificate IV level through to postgraduate level. The program will assist Queensland to meet current and future skills needs by increasing women’s participation in key industry sectors linked to the Government’s four economic pillars Each of these 500 scholarships will provide successful recipients with up to $20,000 over four years to complete study in targeted male-dominated fields in areas of skills shortage, such as engineering, agricultural science, geology, architecture, building services and information technology, from Certificate IV to postgraduate level. These scholarships will assist Queensland women who are studying Year 12, women seeking to change careers or those women who are seeking to re-enter the workforce — many of whom would otherwise be unable to undertake tertiary or higher-level study due to financial or other constraints. Successful applicants will be able to use the funding to offset the costs of their studies, which can sometimes be a barrier to taking up these opportunities.

Explanatory Notes for Development Assessment Local Heritage Register Amendments to the Queensland Heritage Act 1992, Schedule 8 and 8A of the Integrated Planning Act 1997, the Integrated Planning Regulation 1998, and the Queensland Heritage Regulation 2003 became effective on 31 March 2008. All aspects of development on a Local Heritage Place in a Local Heritage Register under the Queensland Heritage Act 1992, are code assessable (unless City Plan 2000 requires impact assessment). Those code assessable applications are assessed against the Code in Schedule 2 of the Queensland Heritage Regulation 2003 and the Heritage Place Code in City Plan 2000. City Plan 2000 makes some aspects of development impact assessable on the site of a Heritage Place and a Heritage Precinct. Heritage Places and Heritage Precincts are identified in the Heritage Register of the Heritage Register Planning Scheme Policy in City Plan 2000. Those impact assessable applications are assessed under the relevant provisions of the City Plan 2000. All aspects of development on land adjoining a Heritage Place or Heritage Precinct are assessable solely under City Plan 2000. ********** For building work on a Local Heritage Place assessable against the Building Act 1975, the Local Government is a concurrence agency. ********** Amendments to the Local Heritage Register are located at the back of the Register. • Understanding Football in 2013 and the Acronyms – APL, BPL, BJL, SSF
Understanding Football in 2013 and the Acronyms – APL, BPL, BJL, SSF Football in Australia has changed! Football Federation Australia (FFA) has introduced an Australia-wide elite program for juniors (male and female) and seniors (male and female). Football Brisbane (FB) has also changed the competition structure in 2013. This document attempts to simplify and clarify the acronyms and the football structure in Brisbane from 2013. Australian Premier League (APL) The APL is an FFA competition for elite players. The program will be rolled out over the next 4 or 5 years. The program is run in each state with the competition including both Capital and regional areas. The structure in all states is the same. There is a possibility of ‘National Championship’ style finals at the end of the season. The program in Qld is administered by Football Qld (FQ). There are 14 APL Clubs in Qld: Brisbane City Football Club Brisbane Olympic FC Brisbane Strikers CQFC Energy FNQ FC Mackay Crusaders Moreton Bay United Northern Fury Palm Beach Sharks Redlands United Football Club Sunshine Coast Fire SWQ Thunder Western Pride Football Club Wide Bay Revolution. Each of these clubs has an FQ determined Catchment Area. Clubs have therefore been allocated to a specific APL Club (based on total number of players rather than pure geographical considerations for the Brisbane clubs). For Souths United, our APL Club is Brisbane Strikers who operate from Meakin Park, Slacks Creek. Each of the 14 APL Clubs must have the following teams: Male Female Senior Men’s Senior Women’s (from 2014) Under 20s Under 18s Under 18s Under 16s Under 15’s Under 15s Under 14s Under 14s Under 13s Under 13s Under 12s For 2011 and 2012, Souths was one of three Brisbane Clubs that conducted the then elite program for girls: Junior Premier League (JPL).

  • FB Competition Rules
2020 Rules of Competition (RoC) Variations (COVID) As a consequence of the effect of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic on Australia and the Federal and Queensland Government restrictions in place, several Rules of Competition (RoC) clauses for the 2020 Football Brisbane season have been amended to reflect increased flexibility across all competitions. These amendments will ensure competition fixtures are scheduled to minimise health risks to our community, clubs, and their members and to limit travel. It will also enable clubs to utilise players to support and supplement reduced playing numbers in teams and to decrease the risk of injury. Revisions such as kick-off times throughout the weekend, interchange, increasing the number of games a player can play in higher divisions/leagues, reworking leagues to be primarily geographically based, and simplifying team sheets/photo identification will assist in this process. Any references in this document to RoC clauses can be found on the full RoC if required. As we, fortunately, prepare for season 2020, we ask that everyone is mindful of the principles Football Brisbane has adopted for the Community Football season; • Focus is on football and the enjoyment of the game (particularly with regards to season length, fixture alterations, health and safety, and participation), please keep this in mind at clubs and on matchday. • Across all competitions, make it as simple and easy to play Community Football in season 2020, including simplified competition rules, game day processes, match sheets, and competition structures and ensure fixtures are completed. • Be agile as the restrictions may ease, allowing for a change in fixture scheduling for the remainder of the season and club requirements (canteen, bar, change rooms) however the structures of the competitions and the RoC will remain set for season 2020.
