The 15th Congress of the ISFNR will convene in Athens, Greece, on June 21-27, 2009. The International Society for Folk Narrative Research is an international academic soci- ety whose objective is to develop scholarly work in the field of folk nar- rative research. The research inter- ests of ISFNR members around the world cover a number of disciplines in the humanities and social sci- ences, including, in addition to folk- lore, anthropology, cultural studies, comparative literature, language, history, museology, education and ethnography from the point of view of narratives.

The 15th Congress in Athens coincides with the 50th anniversary of the foun- dation of the ISFNR in 1959, in Kiel and Copenhagen. It is the second time in the history of the ISFNR that Athens will host the Conference. The 4th In- ternational Congress for Folk-Narrative Research, held in Athens in September 1964, consolidated the foundation of the ISFNR in that it approved its Stat- utes by means of the General Meeting of the Members of the Congress.

The general archives of Argentinean traditional narrative: the influence of the historic-geographic method The initial link in the chain of archives: the 1921 Folkloric Survey Encuesta Folklórica de 1921 or the Folkloric Survey carried out in 1921 constitutes the first attempt at a systematic collec- tion of folklore materials in Argentina.
