RESEARCH EXPERIENCE • 2008-2009 National Aquarium of Cuba Behavioral patterns of dolphins in captivity. Monitoring, collection of data. Managing and processing of data-based analysis, interpretation of results and presentation of findings.
• 2010-2011 Marine Turtle Conservation Program. Center for Marine Research Conducted nest surveys during nesting season (April-October), monitoring nesting female green turtles along the Guanahacabibes Peninsula. Took and prepared samples to identify the sex of turtle hatchlings and determine the influence of incubation temperature on sex ratio in sea turtle nests. Collected data for future studies of Fibropapilloma virus. • 2011-2013 Laboratory of Meiofauna, Center for Marine Research Molecular systematics of marine nematodes based in the SSU 18S and COI genes. Collection and sorting of nematodes. Mounted temporary microscope preparations. Identified and photo- vouchered all specimens. DNA extraction, data analysis and phylogenetic reconstruction. • Sep, 2013-March, 2016 Center for Marine Research, University of Havana Research Assistant Projects: Genetic connectivity of Desmodora spp. (Nematoda: Desmodoridae). Collection and sorting of meio - and macrofauna. Photo-vouchering, DNA extraction, sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction. Research and conservation of sharks and rays in Cuba (tagging, sport fishing). Conducted surveys in different fishing ports, collected data about catch composition, fishing gear, fishing times and areas, bait type, targeted species, and bycatch.
