Hbo Premieres Second Season of Game of Thrones HBO PREMIERES SECOND SEASON OF GAME OF THRONES Miami, February 15, 2012 - HBO Latin America announced the April 1st premiere of the highly anticipated second season of original series Game of Thrones, airing throughout the Caribbean on the same day as in the United States. Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by author George R.R. Martin, the Emmy®- and Golden Globe®-winning series chronicles the epic and deadly struggle for power among several families in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The thrilling first season of Game of Thrones left off with the news of Ned Stark's execution quickly spreading to all corners of Westeros, triggering significant changes for the Stark family – both in the capital of King’s Landing, as well as in their home of Winterfell. In King’s Landing, the death of King Robert Baratheon sets off a vicious battle over the Iron Throne, threatening Prince Joffrey's claim to the crown. With Jaime Lannister captured by the Starks and Robert’s brothers each plotting for control of the Kingdoms, Lord Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) assigns his son, Tyrion (Emmy®- and Golden Globe®-winner Peter Dinklage), as Hand of the King to keep Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) in check. Meanwhile, Robb Stark (Richard Madden), Ned’s oldest son, is proclaimed King of the North, leading to the region’s secession from the Seven Kingdoms. The bastard son of Ned Stark, Jon Snow (Kit Harington), on the other hand, bravely ventures beyond the safety of the Wall and into the lawless unknown after almost deserting the Night’s Watch to avenge his father’s death. At the Dothraki camp, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) burns the body of her beloved husband, Khal Drogo, alongside her prized dragon's eggs; she then walks into the flames as the fire reaches its peak. When the embers die the following morning, Daenerys rises, unharmed, guarded by three newborn dragons. The critically acclaimed series, filmed in majestic locations such as Croatia and Iceland, returns with ten new hour long episodes tracing the continuing battles among the Houses in the wake of King Robert’s death. Returning members of the stellar ensemble cast include Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Richard Madden and Kit Harington. New cast members include Gwendoline Christie as the female warrior Brienne of Tarth, Liam Cunningham as the former smuggler Ser Davos Seaworth, Oliver Ford Davies as Maester Cressen, Stephen Dillane as would-be king and Robert's brother, Stannis Baratheon, Natalie Dormer as Lady Margaery Tyrell, wife of Renly Baratheon, Carice van Houten as Melisandre of Asshai, Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy, Nonso Anozie as Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Tom Wlaschiha as Jaqen H'ghar, Kerr Logan as Matthos Seaworth, Roy Dotrice as Pyromancer Hallyne, Hannah Murray as Gilly, Karl Davies as Alton Lannister, Ben Crompton as "Dolorous Edd" Tollet, Michael McElhatton as Roose Bolton, Robert Pugh as Craster, Patrick Malahide as Balon Greyjoy, Daniel Portman as Podrick Payne, Ian Hanmore as Pyat Pree, Fintan McKeown as Ser Amory Lorch, and Rose Leslie as Ygritte. • Press Release New Research Reveals Scots Are More
PRESS RELEASE NEW RESEARCH REVEALS SCOTS ARE MORE COMFORTABLE THAN REST OF UK SPEAKING ABOUT THEIR MENTAL HEALTH, AS GAME OF THRONES STAR SPEAKS ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCES NEW RESEARCH has revealed that Scots are more comfortable speaking to their friends and family about their mental health than those in the rest of the UK. The survey of over 5000 UK adults was released for Time to Talk day (FEB 7) along with a call from Scottish actor Daniel Portman for people to reach out and support each other. Despite Scots being more comfortable speaking to their friends and family about their mental health than the rest of the UK, still less than half (42 per cent) would actually be willing to do this, compared to 36% across the UK. The survey also looked at social media, finding an average Scottish person has 878 friends on social media, but over a quarter of us wouldn’t be able to call upon any more than one of those if we were struggling with our mental health. Time to Talk day, which is being led in Scotland by See Me, the programme to end mental health discrimination, aims to get people all over the UK starting meaningful conversations on mental health. Portman, 26 year, who plays Pod in Game of Thrones, revealed that he has experienced depression, anxiety and forms of OCD since he was a teenager, and said more still needs to be done to tackle mental health stigma. The Glaswegian said he felt like he had a “different brain” inside his head when he first struggled, which made it hard to talk about what he was going through.
